The 4 stars is for the wonderful location. The lake was beautiful to look at morning noon and night. The beach was great for kids to play on and the grassy area and patios were wonderful for eating meals. Having 4 individual cottages was a plus for our extended family of 14. The interior of the cottages needs a little TLC. In most of the cottages there are no chest of drawers to store clothes so luckily we had packed ours in under-the-bed storage bins and lived out of that. The bathrooms are very very tiny and our cottage did not have any shelves nor vanity to store toiletries. There were hooks to hang towels. We had a two bedroom which could accommodate 4 but we only had 4 towels. It worked for my husband and me since we are only two but if there were more you would have to use the same towel the entire week. Installing a washer and dryer in the larger cottage in the second kitchenette area would be a real plus. Luckily we brought our own dish towels because our cottage did not have any. My advice if you are staying here is to pack everything you will need for a week. The location is the plus here.

This trip was one our family will never forget! It was our first time to Michigan and this property did not disappoint. We booked all of the properties at Lavango hideaway and it accommodated everyone in our large family. Any issues that we had were promptly solved by the owners- they are very helpful and honest. The only note I will put in here is that the bathrooms may not accomodate all sizes, they are rather small. We didn’t have any issues with our group, but I know it could be an issue for some.

This was a great location and set-up for our annual family gathering, 17 of us representing 4 generations from ages 1 to 79. This was a great set-up with 4 different cottages to utilize. The cottages were stocked with the essentials for our stay, although we had to sometimes figure out where everything we needed was located. The convection ovens and induction cooktops were a bit of a learning curve and instructions would have been helpful, but we figured it out. It's worth mentioning most of our group thought there should be additional or different chairs outside as the Adirondacks are more difficult for some to get out of, also that the showers were really small, the "pass-through" bedroom in the larger cottage was a little warm and could have used a ceiling fan and more storage for clothes so we didn't have to live out of our suitcases would have been nice, but none of these are deal breakers. We loved the supply of games to supplement the ones we brought, the beach, the lake, the yard and the firepit. When we needed to re-stock, we got groceries at both Ralph's and the Family Fare in Oscoda. Also visited Cedar Lake Grocery for fresh hot donuts (Saturday and Sunday), the Alcona Coffee Shop in Harrisville for ice cream with homemade waffle cones and Harrisville State Park for some rock hunting. All in all, this was considered to be one of everyone's favorite vacations we've done and we'd love to come back again.

This location was fantastic, as was all of the outdoor space and seating locations. Renting four separate cabins was also perfect for our extended family group. We were given the impression by some neighbors that the owners haven’t owned it long so maybe are just getting their sea legs so to speak as rental property owners but we have several suggestions that would improve the overall experience. Most significantly all of the cabins need a good scrub/deep clean. We would also suggest, if there is no plan to add a stackable washer dryer to the large cabin, to provide an extra set of towels in each cabin. Also an absorbent bath mat versus a rubber one would help keep the bathroom dry. With the small space there is probably also room to add some more hooks and/or floating shelves for storage. Generally though a fantastic beach location and lots of room for improvement to make the experience even more enjoyable.
