The place is incredibly beautiful, scenic, and relaxing.

Only minus was the shower which couldn’t hold its pressure or temperature for longer than 30 seconds. But I consider this only a minor tip for improvement.

Our most beautiful moments at Nusa Penida

Loved the hospitality. The in-house team made our check-in very smooth. They stayed in touch over WhatsApp while we made our way to the island. Once at the island, the coordination of the transfer vehicle was done efficiently by Mr Putu. We were greeted nicely at the property by Wyan. Our luggage was handled well. We were explained everything neatly. Our breakfast preferences were well noted. And our rooms were all ready to welcome us. We stayed for four nights. The daily housekeeping follow-up was superb. They even arranged scooties at a reasonable price during our stay. Any specific requests (be it an extra round of mop, more water, or an early breakfast request) were handled with politeness and a smile. The rooms are aesthetically designed. We had booked Umah Poan. The attic, the pool, the beds, the breakfast sitout, everything was up to the mark. The overall experience at Umah Ilu was one of marvel and fond memories. We look forward to being here again, and again. Love the people. Love the place. Love its history. Love every corner of it.

Such an absolute gem

This place was absolutely incredible. I love the concept of creating traditional homes for guest to stay in. I loved learning about the homes. The view was incredible. The garden was absolutely stunning. And top that all off – the communication and service from the owner and staff was incredible. Being able to get a ride to and from the location included made things feel so useful. The scooter rental was the best scooter I’ve had in my entire time in Bali. Just truly an amazing place.

Super clean and comfortable stay!

The rooms are super clean and comfortable! We really liked that the staff brought us to the restaurants every time and also picked us up (for free). Just know that there's no swimmpingpool and it can be really hot at Nusa Penida. Also the location is a bit far from restaurants. Umah Ilu Island Retreat is on a hill so not really nice to walk to the center. So you need a scooter or ask them to bring you to a restaurant. Overall we really loved our stay! They organized different tours for us such as a island tour and snorkeltrip, both were great. Thank you so much for everything!

The place is amazing, in the top of a hill, immersed in the green of the island. Our room was tiny but so beautiful, I loved to stay there. The staff is lovable and very kind. The breakfast was always amazing! Really recommended

Amazing Peaceful Stay

The setting of Umah Ilu Island Retreat was so lovely - it was so peaceful and gorgeous! The staff were amazing and so accommodating and helpful. Would definitely recommend for a stay on Nusa Penida.

Exceptional

This property is up a hill and secluded from the main road of Nusa Penida. It is walkable, but they also offer a free shuttle for those needing a ride. The view from our room was incredible - you can easily see the water but are also surrounded by stars at night. The hosts were the friendliest we've ever met and so helpful! Breakfast is delivered to your door each morning. You can tell so much care has been put into the facilities.

Best place to stay for your Nusa Penida adventure!

The view and the entire resort. You can see that everything was built with taste and to be as traditional as possible. Putu and the entire team will make sure that you will have everything you need for your stay in Nusa Penida. The breakfast is very tasty and it is brought to your room at the desired hour. If we'll be back to Nusa Penida, we will choose this place for sure ♡.

Beautiful Cottages, Gardens and friendly staff

The rooms and the gardens were absolutely stunning. They also deliver your breakfast to the room in the morning which is very convenient. It’s a great place for couples and honeymooners as it’s very relaxing. The beds were super comfortable and the shower was really nice with proper hot water flow. The staff were also really nice and they offer a complimentary shuttle service that will take you to town and pick you up again.

The roosters going crazy the whole night so if you’re a light sleeper make sure to wear earplugs. They have firepits with wood and we would have loved to make a fire and sit around it with some wine but the sprinklers were constantly going so this wasn’t an option. The accommodation is up on a hill and not within walking distance from town. You will need transportation. We rented a scooter for all the days and the staff will assist with this. Scooter deffo helped as we got around the island to all the sites and was easy to get to town and back. It’s quite hilly up to the accommodation with narrow roads so make sure you’re comfortable driving a scooter.

Peaceful getaway near the harbour

The cabins are located in a wonderful garden on top of a hill with a stunning view on the sea and Bali. It’s very peaceful and quiet and the staff is super friendly. Rooms are basic but there is everything you need, clean and tidy.

Would have been nice if there was a swimming pool, also no tv in the room in case you’re looking for this. The breakfast is brought to the room so in case you’re travelling with family our friends that stay in another cabin you can not have the breakfast together.

Beautiful, Best and Quiet

Staff were wonderful. They provided a free pick up and drop from the harbor. Also provided free taxi service to go out for dinner. Beautiful place, Quiet location and would love to go back. Pancake were awesome. Thanks for making our stay memorable.

I really love the property. it is really nice, the bed is cozy, the place is quiet. their staffs are superb!! they gave us big coconut for welcome drink. we did bbq at night and they made us bamboo stick to grill the hotdogs and burgers. their efforts to made us happy is 1000%.

Hosts and customer service = 10/10

The hosts were exceptional, the customer service was first class. The taxi/shuttle service they offer was as good as I’ve seen, which is very important on an island like Nusa Penida. We would WhatsApp message the host who would reply v quickly and pick us up from where we were. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff at this hotel. We booked day trips with them as well, both island tours and a Manta Ray snorkelling trip with a private boat - both 10/10 experiences. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

There is no swimming pool on site although the pictures suggest there are. The location is off the beaten track a bit meaning you need transport to get to the nearest amenities really - however their shuttle service covers this issue.

The views were incredible, the rooms were lovely and the breakfast was tasty. Location is not far from the bars/restaurants etc. The staff were really helpful - they picked us up on arrival to Nusa Penida and arranged transport throughout our stay. Highly recommend

Clean, quiet and spacious place with the lovliest staff and a wonderful view

The staff was so lovely and caring! They even made a special valentines present, my boyfriend back at home asked them to do. They would just do everything you ask for and you can 100% rely on them (just ask back, if you're not sure they're on it - they always are:-)). I stayed at the one bedroom villa for 7 nights, which I adored and became a bit of a home for me during my stay. The view out of the window front is stunning. The bedsheets smelled so nice and the bed was really comfortable. I slept so so so good. Additionally, the houses have a good distance between them, so you will never be disturbed by other guests.

There are open spaces between the roof and the wall like in most places all over Bali, so you will have visitors. I don't care about it (got used to it) but you just need to know. There will be Geckos living with you in every Balinese house (be thankful, they eat the insects and mosquitos;-)). It is somehow normal but therefore it will never be 100% clean. The staff does their best nevertheless and will clean your room perfectly every day. It is not in the center of Ped but you can easily walk in 15 minutes or they would always drive you for free (just ask).

Everything! The breakfast was really good and the service was out of this world. They wee super helpful and checking on us all the time They will check each date our preference for breakfast and what time, to bring the next day to your room. The views were breathtaking! Each time that we needed to go somewhere, they were always at our disposal and brought us to the locations. Best service ever.

Amazing stay. Close to town, but far enough away to feel secluded.

It had the wow factor. The outdoor shower and bath were amazing. The staff were very friendly. The day we arrived was very hot and they welcomed us with a cold towel and coconut.

We had a fantastic experience.

This stay was absolutely marvellous. The room is very beautiful and the location is very convenient (between the two harbours). The staff is so friendly and helpful. The communication with the owner was also very easy, he helped us out a lot of times. I never had so much interaction during a stay, and he didn’t mind to help us out all the time. The breakfast is also very good and is brought to your room and you have a little patio where you can eat it out in the open. We got surprised with a fresh and cold coconut when we arrived as well. At night it is nice and quiet, instead of in a lot of other stays.

Wonderful property to stay at

We had a wonderful stay. The host Wy made sure we had a great stay, the place was spotless with all the toiletries you’d need and spectacular views of the ocean. It is a five minute scooter ride from the main restaurants and bars. The breakfast is delicious too and delivered to your room whatever time you request it. Highly recommend!

Veey good place to stay

Very warm welcome, with a fresh coconut-drink and a cool,wet towel for refreshment. Very nice staff and very helpfull.Good breakfast, you eat this in your room. Beautifull garden, lots of privacy. Good starting point to explore te island with a scooter. You can rent a scooter at the hotel very easy. Clean room, plenty of space. Very good place to stay!

Lovely house in a peaceful and green environment! Lots of food option close by

Stayed in a super comfortable house. The property is one large garden and its very calm. Pancakes were great and the internet was fast. Place is quite close to the harbor road, (2mins with scooter) so there are lot of dinner options around.

Still needs a scooter, as the place is located up a steep hill. So you can't walk down to the beach but definitely need to ride.
