Villa Sofoklis

Modern villa with all the needed facilities. It's just a 10 minute drive to busy Tsilivi, but you can enjoy the calm of an olive plantation. Because you do need a car to go around the island, i won't say it's a minus that a car is a must to get to and explore. Everything i modern and nice, the kids loved the swimming pool (daily cleaned). It has a very spacious yard with tables and a barbecue. It's well placed that you can get almost anywhere on the island in around 40 minutes. Our host has very nice, meeting us and also helping with car rental. Also he was present on whatsapp to fix different issues and ask if we needed anything. Overall, a very nice experience.

The internet is very very slow, but that is the case in Greece. The worst part was that one of the bathrooms has a sewer smell that is very very strong, and they tried to fix it all week, but could not. I also saw a review before us with the same problem so, this could be a persistent issue. I also think that the price is to high even if the property looks good. For example, every electro-applience in the house is cheap and low cost. You cannot charge 450 EUR per night and have this.

If I’m being super fussy the beds weren’t the most comfortable, the family bathroom had a strange smell & a car was required for the location.

The location was awesome - out of the way amongst the olive groves and grazing sheep only 5 mins from Tsilivi where you can buy most of what you'll need during your stay, which itself is only 5 minutes from Zakynthos town (Nowhere is very far away on the island). The villa is beautiful, spotlessly clean, with a wonderful garden and secluded pool. It even has it's own tortoise! And what can I say about Spyros? The perfect host - accessible, proactive and with a wealth of documents and ideas to help you get the most out of your stay on this lovely island. Unbeknownst to us we were there over Orthodox Easter, and Spyros, of his own initiative, provided a loads of information and narrative so that we were able to experience a lot of unique Ionian traditions, that otherwise we would have missed, associated with this time of year. If anyone has come across this property in a search, I'd recommend that they stop right now and just get it booked!
