Beautiful loft with great facilities

The loft is beautiful and very tastefully designed. As it's high up the hills the view is incredible. At first we couldn't find the main door, but the host helped me over the phone which was super helpful and kind. We also really liked that there was a washer and dryer we could use, very helpful especially after travelling two weeks.

Although the location is gorgeous, it is around the corner of a rougher area. We had a harder time having our requested Uber rides being accepted this part of town.

Clean room, great view, quirky neighbourhood, good value

I stayed in two of the rooms because I extended my stay and the first room was unavailable. The wifi in the upstairs room was exceptional. I’d been slowly uploading GoPro footage on terrible wifi for 3 weeks at this point and had a massive backlog which rapidly got smaller. Very pleasantly surprised. The view is amazing, and the photos are accurate (but of course don’t do it justice!) Entry to the property and the room is code/touchpad, and it looks to be a really sophisticated locking system. I certainly had no worries about security when I heard it whirring as it automatically locked. Both rooms were perfectly clean. Host was very helpful, available, responsive and communicative. Two sleek and efficient washing machines in the entrance area. It’s easily walkable into the Centro district, the neighbourhood is very quirky, “bohemian”, arty. There are a lot of cool-looking people outside cool-looking bars at the bottom of the hill.

I hadn’t realised how high up it was when I booked. The cobbled streets are steep enough to make walking down some of them quite difficult, let alone up (which I didn’t even bother trying). It’s not a dangerous neighbourhood in my experience (10 or 11 nights), but being so far away from other people or a police presence is enough to make you aware that you’re pretty vulnerable when walking around. I definitely stayed in worse places in Brazil, but this neighbourhood feels pretty isolated, and I’d love to have explored it more but thought it wise not to. The upstairs room had a really bad problem with tiny ants, and I quickly realised I’d have to store everything (including chewing gum, tobacco) in the fridge. But still, every time I picked something up off the counter they’d be disturbed and run everywhere. Not a cleanliness issue, but really annoying. The wifi signal in the downstairs room was so faint it was almost unusable. I had to buy my own bin bags and washing up liquid because there weren’t any spares in the rooms. There’s a charge for leaving dirty dishes and I would have expected some to be provided. I used it once on my last day (in each room) and left the bottle and the roll of bags behind. There was no hot water in the sinks so I had to boil the tiny kettle a few times before I could wash up. The way this site formats reviews means they have to end with the bad things, but I’ll bring it back round and say I enjoyed my stay overall.

The best view I ever had on a vacation . Great place to stay!

During my trip to Rio i have changed several locations, from 5 star Hotels to private apartments, so i can feel the vibe of the city better. Casa do Gato was on my list and definitly Worth staying here. First , if you re looking for accomodation in Santa Tereza area, this is the place to stay. For us, was amazing to have breakfast with this stunning view, see the sun rising, and having this view to Sugaloaf, right from the living room. The apartament is spacious, clean and comfy. Even if you don t want to stay in Santa Tereza when in Rio, i think it s worth it at least few nights. It is walking distance to Lapa area (where all the night life is in the weekend) , Escadaria Seralon, and the Cathedral of Rio (amazing, must see). And last, but not least, the Host is very nice, good english (which in not that comun in Rio) and willing to help us with anything. Very good Customer service. The street is safe, also the building.

it is not close to the Copacabana and ipanema beach, with uber is like 20 min. ( anyway Uber is very cheap in Rio ,it is around R$20~4 USD )

Easy street parking. Great location to famous steps. Sugarloaf Mountain View from the bedroom and back balcony with sunrise. Washing machine facilities , very good Wi-Fi (50mbit) nice shower, nice kitchen etc.. good value.

Really nice apartment!

Very nice apartment, the view is amazing. Location is good, close to lapa neighborhood but its a very steep walk back. Our host was very friendly and helpful with everything.

It was amazing, we loved it!

It was a great place and that view every morning was just priceless. The apartment is well equipped, the kitchen has everything so you can buy in the supermarket and cook without any problem, also the laundry for washing and drying very complete. Matthias was such a supportive host, and the neighbours too. The neighbourhood it’s really quite, you can go drink and come back walking any time without worries. It’s close to touristic spots however, it requires a little bit of hiking to get back to the house by walking because it’s on the top of Santa Teresa (I loved it) but some people don’t. I will definitely staying there again.

Amazing view! Nice and spacious room. Perfect spot in an attractive neighborhood (we lived in Rio, so we know some places) Having laundering utility also further helps. Attentive host. I can only praise and thank it.

Nothing. Everything was perfect. Only one thing is that we prefer real keys instead of opening with QR code, which obliges you to carry your phone always and it takes a few moments to open. But that is our preference, and we understand it might help improving security.

Tolles Apartement, absolut empfehlenswert !

Mit Abstand die beste Unterkunft die wir auf unserem mehrwöchigen Trip durch Brasilien bewohnt haben. Extrem sauber, sehr praktisch und modern eingerichtet, genügend Platz für uns (Familie : 3 Erwachsene), der Blick vom Balkon in Richtung Zuckerhut ist unschlagbar. Ebenso fühlten wir uns im Stadtteil Santa Theresa sehr sicher. Zu Fuß erreicht man nette Lokale in denen man traditionell essen und trinken kann. Wer einen Supermarkt benötigt, sollte sich ein Taxi oder Uber nehmen.(~ 8 Minuten Fahrzeit) Der Besitzer ist absolut freundlich und sehr korrekt. Jede Frage die wir hatten, wurde nach kurzer Zeit beantwortet, mit Tips hinterlegt. In dem Appartement ist alles vorhanden, was man braucht. Bei einem nächsten Aufenthalt in Rio de Janeiro würden wir auf jeden Fall hier wieder einchecken. Absoluter Geheimtipp!

Superbe emplacement et appartement

La vue depuis l'appartement INCROYABLE! Le quartier j'adore aussi! L'appartement est super bien situé sur Santa Teresa, nous sommes à 5 min à pieds des escaliers Selaron donc top. Il est grand, à deux, il n'y a 0 problème. La communication avec le propriétaire est facile et fluide. Il y a possibilité de faire sa lessive gratuitement, le propriétaire offre le savon et met à disposition un étendage. Honnêtement, c'est une superbe location.

Mon séjour s'est bien passé. Peut-être le petit point négatif, même si je n'ai pas cuisiner, c'est le nettoyage de la hotte de cuisine et du haut du frigo qui étaient un peu sales.. mais le reste, chambre, salle de bains c'était très propre.

Eine Woche Rio de Janeiro Familienurlaub

Wir waren sehr zufrieden mit der Unterkunft (zwei Wohnungen). Der Gastgeber war super. Die Übergabe des Pin Codes für die Türen war unkompliziert. Die Lage der Unterkunft ist perfekt im "alten Vittel" von Rio. Wir haben uns die ganze Zeit sicher und Wohl in der Gegend und in der Wohnung gefühlt. Parken unseres Mietwagens war ohne Probleme vor der Haustür möglich. Auch öffentliche Verkehrsmittel sind dort gefahren. Der Ausblick von unseren Balkonen auf Rio und den Zuckerhut ist wunderschön. Es ist alles vorhanden was man benötigt. Auch mit dem (nur) kalten Wasser in der Küche, hatten wir kein Problem. Es wäre zwar schön dort einen Durchlauferhitzer zu haben, aber wir haben das Wasser zum Geschirr spülen einfach mit dem vorhandenen Wasserkocher aufgewärmt. Waschmaschinen zum Wäsche waschen und Waschmittel sind ebenfalls vorhanden. Ich würde diese Unterkunft jederzeit wieder mieten.

Nur eine kleine Anmerkung: Es wäre wichtig bei längeren Aufenthalten die Handtücher und Geschirrtücher zwischenduch mal zu wechseln. Damit man Sie nicht selber waschen muss. Ich bin mir sicher, das wir neue bekommen hätten wenn wir gefragt hätten. Wir haben es anders gelöst.

Super gute Ausgangsposition für Santa Teresa und Centro

Ein herrlicher Blick auf die Stadt und den Zuckerhut. Ein außergewöhnlich freundlicher Gastgeber. Ein pulsierendes Viertel mit tollen Restaurants und Livemusik und trotzdem ruhig in der Wohnung.

Die Wände sind etwas geräuchdurchlässig und das Haus hat einen etwas gewöhnungsbedürftigen, aber nicht sehr störenden Geruch. Was beides für ein altes Haus (mit Geschichte) in Ordnung geht.

A vista é de tirar o fôlego!

O apartamento é incrível e a vista é espetacular. Cama super confortável, ducha relaxante. A rua é tranquila, com vários barzinhos e restaurantes por perto, além de atrações turísticas. O contato com o proprietário é muito tranquilo e acolhedor. Super recomendo! Voltarei com certeza. Santa Teresa é um lugar muito especial no Rio de Janeiro.

Ein sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtetes Apartment mit einem großartigen Ausblick. Die Stadt incl. Zuckerhut liegt einem zu Füßen.⁸ Gastgeber Matthias war sehr hilfsbereit, freundlich und schnell im Reagieren. Vielen Dank noch einmal auf diesem Wege!

Υπήρχαν κάποια ζωύφια τριγύρω, πράγμα που όμως είναι φυσιολογικό, η κλειδαριά του διαμερίσματος είναι κάπως περίεργη να τη διαχειριστεις, καμία φορά είναι δύσκολο να βρεις uber να σε ανεβάσει στην Santa Teresa

La vista del dpto es espectacular, la zona tranquila y segura, la atencion de Matthias muy pendiente de todo y siempre dispuesto a ayudar con cualquier consulta, todo súper limpio, nuevo, cómodo, tiene todo lo que se necesita para pasar unas hermosas vacaciones. Lo recomiendo 100% y si volviera definitivamente me quedaría en el mismo lugar.

Geweldig appartement op een fantastische plek met fenomenaal uitzicht

De locatie is geweldig, midden in de leuke wijk Santa Teresa en op loopafstand van vele bezienswaardigheden. Het uitzicht is fenomenaal. De appartementen zijn groot, schoon en van alle gemakken voorzien. De communicatie met de host ging heel soepel en je krijgt echt enorm snel antwoord. Vooral het appartement met het grote balkon is erg fijn, omdat je met z'n vieren buiten kunt zitten en een grote eettafel hebt binnen met prachtig uitzicht.

Helemaal niets viel tegen. Maar als je vraagt wat er nóg beter kan, dan zou het fantastisch zijn als er iets van koffie/thee/flesje wijn in huis zou zijn. De prijs van het appartement is heel redelijk, dus de kosten van die extra's zouden van mij aan de gast doorberekend mogen worden.
