Incredibly spacious historic architectural marvel, Sun Retreat boasts original and restored wood beamed ceilings, simply exquisite woodwork throughout. The home was once the residence of Puerto Rican artist Joaquín Mercado and has long been part of the island’s creative fabric, including serving as a filming location for international cinema. Today, the house continues that lineage through thoughtfully curated art and furnishings. In collaboration with Galería Surco, the space regularly features works by contemporary Puerto Rican artists that complement and respect the home’s architectural beauty. The house has two large bedrooms upstairs and ample space for relaxing, mingling, resting, or planning the next place to explore.

Absolutely loved this home! Elegant yet comfortable in easy walking to so much. Pool was a great respite at the end of the day and the accommodations were wonderful. We received a small welcoming gift from our host which helped set the tone for a wonderful week. Just a heads up to future renters; there are 2 bedrooms with king beds but the other 3 sleeping spots are in common areas or one of the bedrooms. This was not a problem for us but might be an issue for 3 couples +. Communication during the week was amazing, couldn’t have asked for more, thank you to our host.
