Strategic Sunset House by An Island Apart

Vielen Dank an Genaro für die ausserordentlich gute Unterstützung! Da wir unseren Anschlussflug verpassten, standen meine Schwiegereltern, die nicht aus der Schweiz anreisten, plötzlich allein am Flughafen Madeira ohne Reisekenntnisse. Genaro hat die Beiden persönlich abgeholt, ihnen das Haus geöffnet, alles gezeigt und sogar für Verpflegung gesorgt. Wir waren sehr froh über diesen überdurchschnittlich zuvorkommenden Service. Das Haus selber hat eine wunderbare Aussicht und ist mit allem ausgestattet was man braucht. Sehr bequeme Betten. Duschen mit gutem Wasserdruck, normalerweise habe ich im Ausland immer Probleme mit Haare waschen, war hier kein Thema. Zwei mobile Heizungen haben geholfen, dass wir nie kalt hatten. Die Küche war sehr gut ausgestattet. Die Garage war mit einem 7-Plätzer eine kleine Herausforderung aber hat dann auch super geklappt.

Durch die kurze Zeitspanne zwischen Check-out und Check-in bleibt wenig Zeit für die Reinigung des kompletten Hauses, daher war in der Küche einiges nicht ganz sauber. Wir haben das Geschirr vor der Nutzung einfach einmal durch den Geschirrspüler gelassen, so war es in Ordnung. Der Dampfabzug war völlig verklebt aber hat funktioniert.

A tidy welcoming apartment with adequate space for 5 of us. It was not difficult to find the place and we were given the code for the key box upon arrival. There were a good number of plates, bowls, mugs, glasses and cutlery. The internet connection was good and there ia a good view from the balcony at the back. A good supply of towels and facility for laundry. We liked our stay at the strategic sunset house.

The non- stick pans have lost their coating and not safe for cooking. We could not find instructions on recycling and disposal of trash. Our sleep was disturbed due to frequent barking of dogs and loud conversations from outside. It would have been good to have fan or air-conditioning in the bedrooms as it was quite warm at night. Access to shops is difficult without own transport.

The property is beautiful, has everything you could need. Nice big bedrooms, comfortable beds, lovely bathrooms and nice bug kitcen and dining areas. Views are stunning across the Santa Cruz coast.

The location is fantastic however it is a very long and steep walk to the coast and town, definitely need a car if you stay here as no public transport around this area. Taxis often cancel the trips. Other than that the property is perfect.

The hosts contacted me a few days before my arrival to offer help and provide information. They were great and very helpful, they were easy to contact if we needed to ask questions. The house was clean and had an amazing view. not far from the airport. The location of the house will be better for those who hired a car as it is up a hill.
