Pirata Milfontes Guest House

Good location, managed to book last minute on the same day, and then also extend by one extra night. Quick communication by whatsapp with reception, as my check in was a bit late. Clear instructions on how to find the keys and the room. I stayed in the second newer building first, and everything was super clean and fresh, with a terrace connected to the kitchen when you can chat all night with other guests. Great bathroom, towels provided. I was allowed to leave some of my luggage in the room, despite switching buildings, and technically arriving a long time before check in.

My second night was in the main building that also has the reception. It’s a little older, and didn’t feel as perfectly clean, but still completely fine.

Quiet and close to everything

Nice, clean and cheap hostel, close to the center of Milfontes.

The biggest problem was that we arrived after heavy rain and there were no heater or even hairdryer in the room so it was impossible to dry anything in the cold room. This was in december, so it was also cold at the night. Also we stayed in some detached building. But yeah, it was cheap.

There are some supermarkets and little shops around as well as local restaurants. In 10-15 mins walking around you can find everything you need because town is small and location of this guesthouse is good. Kitchen is equipped so you can cook yourself a dinner. It was handy. Kitchen also has huge patio. Clean and easy to check-in.

We had a double room with private bathroom. Very small room and bathroom is even smaller. You have to be small and skinny to sit on the toilet or to close the door of bathroom. Very humid room. You can see signs of humidity on walls, also bathroom’s door need some force to be opened or closed because of soggy wood. Also it is really cold inside. I was sleeping fully dressed. Rooms don’t have heating or conditioning so hope for good weather.
