A Quiet Oasis on Otisco Lake

My wife and I, who are both in our early 60s, stayed here in early June with our daughter and son in law, who are in their 30s. This place worked well for us. The location has good privacy. The cabin was built by a retired craftsman, and has good and interesting wood work. The lake is one of the less commercial/developed of the Finger Lakes. The beach, which has small shale stone not sand, was very pleasant. Great sunset view. The outside deck was great for dining and just hanging out. The cabin faces east and so gets the morning sun. There is no air conditioning, but opening the windows worked well enough for us, along with fans. This would not be a good cabin for people with small children due to the interior switchback stairwell lacking a rail on the common side. Also, the steps down to the beach are very steep, almost like a ladder, which would concern the young and those with mobility concerns. The owners provide ample drinking water, but the tap water is drawn from the lake, and hot water to the shower took a while to arrive. My daughter said her mattress was not very comfortable.

This home is truly a hidden gem. It sits right on the lake. The property itself is spacious and fully stocked for a large family . There is magic to this place. The only three “issues” are the steep steps down to the water, the lack of AC, and the bathtub that did not work while my partner and I was there. The shower worked fine. The home stayed decently cool even in mid August. Otherwise our stay here was nothing short of magical. Would highly, highly recommend.

Overall an excellent and relaxing weekend on the water.

The property is beautiful inside and out. The location is quiet and relaxing. And the house made me feel like I was staying in a small castle. It is a great experience.
