About this cottage rental
If you can appreciate the character and quaint idiosyncrasies of a 111 year
old home, then you should love our new Captains Quarters! Our beautiful older
home will have some floors that are not yet perfect and are not perfectly
level, and you may notice a bit of a lean here and there!
But it has been updated with Central Heat/AC, new ceiling fans throughout,
High Speed WiFi and updated appliances - all designed to allow you a wonderful
beach side vacation!
The Captain's Quarters offers 4 bedrooms with 2 Queen beds and 3 Twin beds.
We also have a bonus room in the unique attic space with a King size bed that
is accessed with a spiral stairway that was rescued from the Grand Cavalier
Hotel. With the "attic" area and King size bed, we can actually sleep 9.
From the upper windows we do have a beautiful view of the bay and beach.
Although we are not directly on the beach, we are just steps away. There is a
home in between us and the beach but there are no streets to cross and the
walk to the beach is just a minute or maybe a 1/4 cup of coffee!
Parking is just outside your door right in front of our garage..
We feature a large (65") smart TV and high speed Wifi for your work or
entertainment.
Even with a thorough modernization the property is a historical home that is
now over 108 years old. It has some eccentricities that reflect building
standards and designs from the turn of the last century that lends to its
charm as an older beach cottage. The bathrooms are not as large as what is
found in modern structures, but even so we hope that you will love our older
and charming home.
Pet Fee is $99 per pet and per stay plus tax and processing fees.
If not disclosed prior to your stay, the pet fee is $300
Pets must be house trained and stay off of bedding and furniture
An Extra Cleaning fee of $99 will be charged to remove pet hair from bedding
or furniture
Extra Charges:
Early Check-In for 1 PM - $75 (if available) Late Check-Out at 1 PM - $75 (if
available)
Normal Check Out is 10 AM. A fee of $45 per hour is charged beginning at
10:05 AM
Cleaners are on a schedule and can not be kept waiting!

hours begin at 9 PM.

It’s a nice little place with a good yard. The street was much less busy traffic wise than what I thought it would be.

It’s on a busy road, but the yard is fenced. The easy walk to the beach was very nice. The heat worked great, which was good, because it was a cold weekend!

Older home with it's own character.
Did mention to owner, that not enough coffee cups & drinking glasses for more than 4 people.

We really loved the location, 5 minutes along a private path to a nice, fairly private beach. There was also a lot of space in the house, with the caveat that three of the five sleeping areas (counting the King loft upstairs) all share the same entryway, and aren't really private from each other. The kitchen only had a few spoons and knives, but we bought more and left them behind (you're welcome to those who stay after us!).
The biggest downside was the poor state of the house (there wasn't a specific category for this, but I would give it like a 2/5). I knew it would be an old house when we booked, but I didn't realize so much of it would be falling apart! There were exposed nails everywhere, electrical fixtures hanging from sockets, a shower door that falls to the floor and shatters if you try to move it, several windows that are falling apart or unable to close, etc, etc. I think with some care and attention, this place would be worth 4 stars, easily. But as-is, I'm giving it 3...
