The Cabin on Craig is located along beautiful Craig’s Creek near New Castle, Virginia.
Whether you are looking for a restful place to retreat or a home base for outdoor adventures, the Cabin on Craig can serve as your home away from home with its comfortable accommodations. The Cabin's fully stocked kitchen, two full baths, beds for 6-8 guests and beautiful surroundings make it ideal for many types of vacations. You don't have to leave the property to experience adventure or relaxation. Fishing, swimming, or canoeing are available to you on Craig's Creek which is just out the back door. The soothing sounds of the creek rapids can be enjoyed from the back porch or deck. If you are looking to relax inside the cabin it features beautiful views of an open hay field, and is supplied with games and puzzles. If you'd like to explore more of Southwest Virginia, popular hiking destinations such as McAfee's Knob, Dragon's Tooth and Roaring Run Loop Trail are just a scenic 30 minute drive away. Tinker Cliffs and Hay Rock trailheads are also less than 40 minutes away. College Universities nearby are Virginia Tech (55 minutes) and Liberty University (1 hour 30 minutes). You may also like visiting the towns of Paint Bank, Fincastle and Roanoke. The cabin is remote enough to be restful but also close to many attractions. We think you'll enjoy it! **One thing to note about our cabin - The area is known to have sulfur smell in the well water. We have taken steps to reduce this with treatment systems and filters, but you may occasionally smell it when first using shower or hot water. If this is a concern and will impact your stay negatively, you may wish to find another cabin. We can not provide refunds for this. Please keep in mind we've had 37 five-star reviews.

If you are looking for a quiet location with tranquility this is your place. Beautiful property on the river. Enjoyed the back porch in the mornings into the afternoons listening to the river and birds with coffee. When the day got hot the river was a retreat to cool down and still be outside all day.Great rocks to skip and fish.Big side yard for yard games or enjoy the front deck watching the sun fade and glow bugs peek out with deer in evening field feeding.Inside cabin is beautiful; beds are comfortable, extra bedding if needed, full washer and dryer for those post hikes or Mnt bike rides that leave you in dirt. Stocked kitchen to cook full meals for the family with storage containers for the left overs. Great open floor plan for everyone to be together for games or watch a show on the large TV. There’s even VHS tapes and player for the vintage throwback! Is a drive into Roanoke if you are looking for fast commute there but a beautiful one. Near lots of hiking trails. There is even a local Camel!

We stay here every June. It's the perfect place to explore the Jefferson National Forest and Craigs Creek. It's just the right size for our family. We will be back for as many years as our hosts will have us!

The cabin fits perfectly into our outdoor activities. It’s clean, family friendly with a great atmosphere. And the host is the best!
