8 / 10Excellent·Jun 2026
The house is beautiful and compact and PERFECTLY located 10 minutes from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, our intended destination. Hilo is an easy 40 minute drive down the mountain (DON'T MISS THE FARMER'S MARKET, it was truly one of the best things we did in HI. So fun and unique!) The yard is full of lush flowers, ferns and other rainforest plants. The only ongoing issue we had was with the water, which lost pressure (and temperature) while we were bathing. The host was made aware, but we all know plumbers don't come immediately for non emergencies, and waiting 5 minutes while soaped up for the water to get hot again is uncomfortable but not an emergency. The laundry is an over/under unit and worked fine and efficiency, even given the water issues we had. This system needs 1/2 stars; this was a 4 1/2 all day long.
