Centrally located from hiking, breweries, golf, and a quick trip to Boone and Blowing Rock, the Great Escape is an excellent jumping off spot for day trips and lots of fun nearby.

We enjoyed the outside deck the most on this trip. Thanks for allowing dogs, and for having a gate on the deck so she could hang out there with us safely. Lots of great hiking in the area, we went to Mt. Jefferson twice, as well as Paddy Mountain and New River State Park.

The home was clean and welcoming. Excellent location to explore West Jefferson. Close to grocery store. Just down the road from Mount Jefferson, where my husband took our dog hiking every day. Would definitely return.

This cabin was everything we needed to enjoy our Son's wedding in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina! Devon was so helpful with all my questions in the aftermath of hurricane Helene

We had a wonderful vacation at this home! It is easily accessible and not too far off of more heavily traveled roads, but secluded enough that you feel like you are "in the mountains." The home is one of less than ten in a circular neighborhood. We liked that we had the comfort of knowing there were other homes nearby for safety, yet you never felt on top of one another as there is plenty of space. The neighborhood does have what appears to be a shared wooded area around which the road encompasses. There is a gazebo and other families put out deer corn which regularly attracts many deer. They are so peaceful to see up close. The home has a fully gated porch which made us very comfortable as we brought along our dog. The porch also has a high quality grill and a fire pit, both of which we used each night! Inside, the home is very clean and has everything you would want from a mountain home. The beds were very comfortable and you felt like you were getting that true cabin experience.Shopping nearby was easily accessed. There is a Wal-Mart just a few minutes away for all your needs. Again, you truly feel like you are in the mountains in this home, but the convenience of well known stores nearby made for an easy stay.Just a few miles up the mountain behind the home is Mt. Jefferson State Park. We definitely recommend taking the time to visit this park. The views looking down at the area where you are staying are terrific. A little further away, but not too far near Boone is Elk Knob State Park. This one is highly recommended. It's free and the views are phenomenal!Locally, there are two nice parks. There is a playground in downtown West Jefferson with a SUPER long slide that our six year old loved. In Jefferson, visit Ashe County Park if you are looking for a place with great views, quality playground equipment, and a nice sized pond with multiple fish species.Bottom line, we loved this place and would definitely book again.
