Onguma Forest Camp

I was very impressed by the amazing staff that went above and beyond to be helpful - including reaching out to their own contacts to help me organise my transfer back to Windhoek. The Onguma guides are extremely knowledgeable, I did 4 different drives with them across both Etosha and the Onguma reserve and learned fascinating facts about the wildlife each time. The waterhole by the swimming pool is also a great feature, watching oryx, zebra and kudu while lounging by the pool. There were also many smaller actions to make the stay welcoming, such as a great turndown service with installation of the mosquito net, candles in the bathroom and a different animal-themed bedtime story each evening.

Large peaceful deluxe bungalow with windows on all sides and a comfortable canopy bed. Decent bathroom. Ok breakfast and dinner. Beautiful grounds. A few kudu and warthogs came to the water hole, but it was mostly empty. They said that sometimes they get lions or elephants. If something does come you are closer to the animals than at the water holes in Etosha. The game drive was so so. We saw some kudu and a few giraffe. The camp is in a private reserve which is about 1/60th the size of Etosha.

Wifi didn't work. The plug close to the bed was actually behind the bed so you would have to pull the whole thing out to use it. A second plug didn't work. I used the plug on the other side of the room.

Difficulties with thé booking they asked to pay beforehand while not mentionned like that on booking.com. In the end i could pay on arrival. Once we arrived, the sunset drive was full. It was mentionned nowhere we had to book this before arrival. With a lot of insistance, we got in the end a place for thé sunset drive. Food is really not incredible… staff is friendly and do what they can with the possibilities they get.
