Deer Lake Onyx - Modern Waterfront Cottage

What a wonderful place! As all guests have noted, the cottage is extremely comfortable and beautiful. On cold winter days the wood stove (and plentifully supplied wood) keeps the house cosy, and the vast glass front to the cottage allows one to feel you are sitting in the woods. In December it was extremely quiet, we didn't see anyone else nearby or on the lake - making for a very remote and relaxing experience. We were able to walk on the frozen lake and along snowy roads, as well as cook in the well-equipped kitchen and hang out comfortably in the open living space. I would recommend this place as a winter getaway to anyone who likes to feel far from everything - it was just perfect.We (and the owners!) had the bad luck of the water pipes failing for pretty much all of our stay (no fault of anyone's... and not likely to happen again I wouldn't think now that things are repaired) - so we had a bit more of rustic week than planned for. Samantha and Rob were, of course, extremely responsive. They gave us the choice of leaving with a full refund for days not stayed, or of providing us with water for us to 'rough it.' Given that this happened over xmas, the level of help and efforts to fix the situation were really stellar. No one wants or anticipates this kind of crisis - but when things happen, then having kind and responsive hosts is what is needed, and Samantha and Rob really were great.Would recommend this place without reservations.

Wow from the moment we stepped in the door. Everything we needed was available. The View of the lake and Forrest through the floor to ceiling window was stunning. I would definitely want to return.

We had a great stay!

This property is in a great location and has all the amenities you could need. They really thought of everything. I went with my family (parents, sister, brother in law) for weekend of June 21st. We unfortunately were hit with a storm so it rained all weekend and we could not enjoy the outdoors much. But because the house was comfortable we decided to stay and not just drive back home. We had a great time indoors playing board games and making lots of food. Kitchen appliances are top notch and new which was great for us. I hope I can return with better luck with weather next time.
