My partner and I checked in early, so we dropped off our luggage and asked the front desk if they could put our snacks into the fridge. To which they said yes and said that they would put in our fridge in our room. When we came back later in the evening to collect our room card, apparently the staff put our snacks into the wrong room. We were lucky that the couple in that room did not eat our snacks and that they actually came down to return it just as we were waiting to see how the front desk would resolve the situation. Also when we walked into our room, there was this wafting trash smell, but unfortunately there was nothing that they can but tell house cleaning to clean our room the next. I also showed the front desk that there was something brown on the floor, and she just said that thats part of the floor, but the flooring is terrazzo… would not come back

Retro Taipan offers a pleasant stay in Tainan, with a nice industrial-style room that is sufficiently spacious and features a modern bathroom. The location is convenient for exploring the city, which is a definite plus. The main drawback is the lack of on-site parking. However, there is an inexpensive underground car park nearby, which provides a practical alternative. The included set breakfast is fairly basic, but acceptable. There are no additional facilities to speak of, so this is best viewed as a comfortable, well-located accommodation rather than a hotel for leisure activities. Overall, a good-value option for travellers looking for a stylish room and a convenient base from which to explore Tainan.
