Villa Mahadevi 1 Open-Air Jungle Joglo Near Ubud

Beautiful Joglos immersed in the forest, you can only hear the sounds of nature and river beside the property.

We stayed in Joglo 1 in August. It is a very large bungalow with a veranda surrounding it. The views over the jungle are lovely and you can watch the sunrise in the morning. There is a nice outside bathroom, a large dressing area / sink inside the bungalow and a lot of storage area for clothes. The main bed is very large and comfortable and we had a second one in the room as we were 4 sharing as a family. There is a nice pool. It is a lovely place if you want to get away from it all, but I would have preferred somewhere with a bit more atmosphere.

As the website states, you do need to be aware that the villas are exposed to the elements. There is a large gap between the glass walls and the roof of the villa, the bathroom is outside and there was just a canvas flap over a section by the kitchen area. The jungle does get noisy, particularly after the rains, and whilst we were there this disturbed some of other guests. If you don’t want to feel at one with the jungle then this isn’t the place for you. Personally, I would have like more seating area inside the bungalow for relaxing in the evening, because when there are 4 of you and 2 are sat on the chaise longue there is no other seating. We had to keep bringing 2 outside chairs in to sit on. There is a lot of space in the bungalow that could accommodate this. We could have used the pool building but there was no one there so it was a bit soulless, so we wouldn’t go and sit down there in the evening. If you walk out of the property (past the dogs!), you can walk 15minutes along a sometimes busy road to some other restaurants and properties, and the start of the Ridge Walk. To get into Ubud you need to get a taxi, and it varies from 20-30mins depending on the traffic. If I was choosing again, I would prefer to stay slightly closer to Ubud. We had breakfast on two mornings and they arranged two trips for us, but when we went to pay on the last day we couldn’t pay by credit card which we didn’t realise. We had to get a Grab bike to the nearest ATM 20 mins away to withdraw cash, so be aware of this.

Huge comfortable beds with mosquito nets! Outside bathroom. Amazing being in the middle of nature. Wonderful falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle at night, a symphony of peace and calm. Swimming pool was like swimming in paradise! The bustling centre of Ubud is only a 20-30min drive away, but lots of other sites to visit in the vicinity too (by car). Staff were very friendly and breakfast was a delight. We would stay here again if we came back to Ubud!!!

Lots of cupboards, but some shelves quite dusty. Impossible to dry your swimming suits, towels etc. outside even with the sun shining, but that’s not really the fault of the resort but due to the humidity of the jungle!

Everything is good!!! especially is decorate and design in this villa is sooooo fabulous. every detail in a very good sense of beauty. This is the most beautiful villa I’ve ever been with it!!

If there must to say something don’t like maybe is the position, is not very near with the central Ubud. but I think it’s not a problem cause you can call a driver in 5 mins.

Loved everything- Joglo-Gardens- pool area. Was great for our family and so peaceful.

It is one of my favorite getaways in Ubud.. Amazing surroundings, in the jungle, Joglo no1 is beautifully lit and it looks incredible in the night.. this was my 4th or 5th time there.. and i will definitelly return.. The staff is also very kind and helpful always

Beautiful little Villa in a masterly designed surrounding garden. A real retreat. Ubud has become so busy (I ve been there 20 years ago first time) but this place and its location really keep the old Ubud spirit. You need to rent a scooter in order to get to Ubud center or you walk the incredible ridge walk, which takes an hour. Great compliment to the owners of the place, Gusti and all his super friendly staff. Thank for the lovely stay.

We had an absolutely perfect stay at Villa Mohavedi! It was our favorite accommodation in Bali. Waking up to the breathtaking jungle view every day was truly a dream. The villa is situated in a peaceful area, where the only sounds you'll hear are those of nature. For us, it was the ideal location for all our excursions, being very close to the center of Ubud (easily accessible by scooter or the "Grab" taxi app) and also near waterfalls, rice terraces, etc. A special highlight is that the villa is beautifully designed and feels very luxurious. Also the pool area is stunning, with attention to every detail, making it the perfect spot to relax. The staff were excellent and always helpful. Our room was cleaned impeccably every day, to the point where we almost felt guilty!

Nothing bad to say at all! Just keep in mind that you're surrounded by nature! The villa is partially open, so you might have visits of geckos, ants, or other insects ;-). However, the bed is equipped with a large mosquito net, so there's no need to worry about that. We actually expected more insects, but there were only a few, and surprisingly, no mosquitoes during our stay. It also might also get a bit "dirty" from nature, but the room gets thoroughly cleaned every day! So nothing bad, just something to be aware of!
