The location across the road from the Senate was outstanding. Close to several metro stations, Grand Via, the commercial centre and the Royal Palace/cathedral. Clean, with regular attention given to common areas and some nice touches like biscuits in the kitchen. Simple accommodation, but all the basics taken care of.
Only receiving the somewhat complex entrance instructions when stood in a windy Plaza de Espana with my bags. Having said that, everything worked and it probably only took 3-4 mins to get in. Could be noisy, either from the adjacent restaurant or other guests. No window or other ventilation, so had to run the air con to change the air.

Great stay and value for money overall! Great location: very central, yet quiet and safe at the same time, right in front of the Madrid Senate building. The check-in process is smooth and contactless. The entire apartment is consistently clean and well maintained. In your room, you’ll find towels, small milk cartons, coffee, and toilet paper. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, microwave, plates, and cutlery, although the stove is not available for use.
My biggest complaint is that my room didn’t have a window. This makes it hard to air out and it can get stuffy during sleep. To ventilate the room, you have to leave the door open, which is inconvenient when other guests are staying in the apartment. The walls are also thin, not only between rooms, but also from upstairs and downstairs. There is a restaurant below the apartment, and some noise can be heard from there. The doors are old and thin as well, letting noise from the hallway come through. Some guests were noisy, although this can’t really be blamed on the host, as there are plenty of notices and instructions asking guests to be mindful and respectful about noise. Finally, while there are two toilets, only one has a shower, which means you may have to wait your turn in the morning.

Without a doubt, the main advantage of this room is its location. The facility is just a few steps from the Royal Palace, the Cathedral across from the Royal Palace, the Sabatini Gardens on the other side of the Royal Palace, Plaza España with the Metro and many eateries on Calle Princesa going west, and La Gran Via (a thoroughfare connecting Plaza España with the Puerta de Alcala, near City Hall, the Prado Museum, and Parque El Retiro) going east. Back to the room, just a few steps south is the Royal Opera House with another Metro station with different lines and the beginning of Calle del Arenal (one of the busiest pedestrian streets in Madrid) that leads within minutes to Plaza del Sol, the social center of Madrid and the geographic center of Spain (even though the Madrid suburb of Getafe claims this privilege for itself). The very close proximity to two Metro stations serving different lines of the subway system makes this room an ideal location for easy access to the bus station (for day trips outside Madrid), both train stations, and the airport. Furthermore, there is a self-service luggage storage just two blocks away, very convenient to solve discrepancies between check-in and check-out times and arrival and departure times. Furthermore, the old building has a modern small elevator, very convenient for travelers with heavy suitcases, internet access is efficient in the room, and the two washrooms in the facility are cleaned daily. Last but not least, while Madrid is a safe city overall, this area is even safer. The room is literally across from the Spanish Senate, which is guarded 24/7.
The main limitation of this facility is that it consists strictly of two small rooms, which are too small to have anything other than a comfortable bed and a tiny chair that serves the purpose of a mini table. Since there is no living room in the entire facility, the only place to sit down while you are in the facility is the bed itself. With no TV or windows (in two of the three rooms), your phone or laptop is the only access to the external world while you are there. I noticed that there is a larger room facing the street, with access to natural light, for parties of three or more guests whose experience and appraisal will be different. Therefore, if you are a solo traveler and your expectation is to spend significant time in your room while you travel, this might not be the ideal option. However, if all you need is a place to have an excellent sleep at night and even a siesta in the middle of the day while you are in Madrid, this is a superb option for you to consider.
