We read the very detailed property description and immediately knew this was our kind of place. No frills but with eye for detail and excellent use of space. Away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to have access to a variety of restaurants and shopping. Also easy access to main roads if you are going to explore the Big Island. Host Amanda was prompt with responding and contacted us several times with much appreciated extra information.

Our 7-day stay was everything we hoped for. We enjoyed all the amenities, the treats/snacks and most of all the privacy. After a day in town or at the beach, it was wonderful to be up in the hills to relax on the lanai. Amanda and Michael are first-class hosts and made sure we had everything we needed. We would highly recommend The Lookout Ohana to anyone visiting the Kona area.

property was a little smaller than anticipated, however this did not impact the outcome of our amazing stay, Amanda and Michael were fabulous host. just what we needed.

We knew that the property was up a very steep path and there was a raised bed and an outside shower but even if you are fit, a light sleeper and short in stature everything was challenging. The metal roof cracked loudly as the temperature reduced overnight making sleep difficult.(not their fault). There was no hand washing facilities other than a very large kitchen sink. They brought a bowl for shaving There was a step up into the toilet and it was also raised. As it was raining you were unable to sit outside in comfort. Inside there were raised chairs again a challenge for small people.The Linau was not fully covered and the picture had not shown the fridge and microwave outside, again it was no fun using them in the rain, wind and cool temperatures. We were not prepared for no cooking facilities. I couldn't see the ocean from the kitchen as it was over 2 miles away and the vegetation had grown up. We decided that we would leave after one night and understood there was no obligation to refund anything. An expensive mistake but luckily we found somewhere near the ocean. We did not meet the host in person but her husband was very helpful.

Amanda & Michael were wonderful hosts. Check in was as easy as it gets! They were great with communication and directions. The Lookout Ohana was absolutely perfect, and as described . The view -gorgeous ,the artistic touches were beautiful. We loved lanai as well. Everything we needed and more was provided! The bed was incredibly comfortable! I would definitely stay here again.

I was a little surprised by the trek up the hill - not far and i was able to do it with my new hip. It was very tranquil, and the owners had many details to make you comfortable. I wished we stayed longer and could have had a BBQ with them or something. The bed was comfortable and the view amazing. Nice and quiet.

The listing was just as advertised. The host left a few snacks for us as treats and coffee. The outdoor space with the shower was unique and added a lot of character. We also loved the decor with painted walls of ocean creatures.

Hosts were excellent. No AC but it's cooler up higher so the fan and window worked great. It's a very cute and all you need for a place to end your night. The outdoor shower was pretty awesome though. Would come back any time.

We had an amazing stay at this Vrbo. It was clean. It was quiet. The owners were amazing and offering help with luggage. The view was absolutely hands-down one of the best views we’ve ever had. It was secluded, sunset's were amazing. This Vrbo is away from all of the hustle and bustle of touristy stuff. We truly enjoyed our stay so very much and would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet private getaway not far from amenities. Perfect little Oasis for our 1 night in Kona. Enjoyed everything about it. Only thing I would suggest is to add a box fan to the property to cool the room down in the evening. We loved it.

Lots of thought and attention to detail was involved creating this place. The property is completely private and the artistic touches give it such a warm and friendly feel. Although we had to leave early due to weather my husband and I enjoyed our stay so much! It was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary!

We stayed during the rainy season...And you can't control the weather. The rain made the outdoor lanai unusable for us, but it looked like it would've been fun. The property really is nice, remote, and quiet during the daytime. At night you'd enjoy the many bird, frog, and creature calls. The rain made us have to retreat to the small indoor area which was humid and wet, and the ceiling fan was no match for the weather. Since there was no A/C (I knew there was no A/C when I booked), there was no way to be comfortable. The host's artwork is a nice touch. The French Press Coffee Station is a nice touch. The Outside Shower is a nice touch. The photos are accurate. The bathroom toilet really is in the bedroom/kitchen area, and the only sink is the kitchen sink. A new mattress would be a priority, as the deeply sunken center made my spouse roll into it, and I clinged onto the side of the mattress. Not upset at the accommodations, location, or hosts. The weather and mattress made it inconvenient for us.

Spotless little hideaway! The views are amazing from way up above Kailua-Kona Town. This little place is perfect if you don't mind kind of roughing it a bit. The room has a toilet and a sink, so it's not really roughing it.The outdoor shower is private, with hot water and natural soap, shampoo, and conditioner. The king size bed is raised up so that when you sit up you can see out the window! The only thing that I didn't quite understand from the description is that the parking is actually on the street. Once my brain figured it out, it was fine! The patio is amazing with several places to sit and relax.

My husband and I stayed here for three nights on our tour of the Hawaiian islands. We absolutely loved this guest home. It was clean, comfortable, peaceful and relaxing. The views looking over Kona and the ocean were amazing. The lanai was gorgeous! We did spend an evening sitting out there enjoying listening to the frogs. It is a beautiful home! We like being away from the crowds and enjoy nature so this Ohana fills those preferences very well. Love the privacy and the spectacular view from the patio. If you must be close to the noise of town then this isn’t your choice. That said we were a short beautiful 15 minute drive from most attractions. The outdoor shower, what can we say, we didn’t want to get out! The bed and linens were incredibly comfortable. Slept with just the screen door closed and loved the soothing sounds of the rainforest. Hosts were helpful but not intrusive. We definitely plan a return trip.

We booked this unit for my Son and Daughter-in-law while they were visiting us in Kona. They loved the private patio and amazing view. They also enjoyed exploring the nearby Holualoa town and found great stores, coffee shops and restaurants. This property is near Kona, Captain Cook, lots of coffee farms and hiking trails. They would definitely stay here again!
