Beautiful,charming, sweet place

We absolutely loved our stay here! We highly recommend this beautiful place! Just lovely! Our host Jamie met us with a very friendly dog Baby cakes ! So cute! The room was so beautiful and the bathroom darling! Everythwe need was right there from coffee, cream, water, chocolate to shampoos and beautiful robes!

I didn’t like that we could not stay longer!! We so enjoyed our stay!

A hidden gem and great place for a quiet retreat

Hosts are very attentive to details and make you feel at home, spa salts, mouthwash, nice shampoos, conditioner and shaving cream, etc., Very nice back yard garden and peaceful environment! Almost everything you need at home is there, it’s about 6 mile behind the flower field and outlet in Carlsbad, quite close to a famous resort and beach!

If would be nice if the bath tub has a safety handle for older folks to get in and out of the bath tub.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, and appreciated the kindness and hospitality of the hosts.

Janie and Don's place is special and unusual in a good way. The outside space is peaceful, stimulating and interesting, paying attention to providing food for the soul, and the senses. There is by the way a homely approach to the lovely actual foodstuffs, including for breakfast, with everything provided to a high standard, including an excellent choice of teas, coffee and snacks. The attention to detail throughout was caring and sensitive. The configuration of the two rooms and two separate bathrooms generally works well, but if both sets were occupied for a longer period, it might feel a little lacking in privacy. But this is built into the very reasonable pricing, and is more than compensated for by the all the plus points, including a comfy bed, good shower, outside space, but most of all by the friendly warm welcome of the hosts, who go the extra mile to ensure a memorable stay. The property and surrounding area feels very safe. A few photos to follow. I didn't go the local beach, but one nearby Cardiff by the sea, where I relaxed and swam. Gorgeous!

You really need a car, or as in my case someone to drive you around 😊.

Peaceful, comfortable retreat in Carlsbad

Very comfortable space and bed, lots of extra details to make you feel at home and special. Good water pressure/volume. Beautifully decorated space and gardens. The patio area and backyard were amazing and could spend hours relaxing out there. Owners on premises and very responsive and enjoyable to meet and spend time with. Both felt right at home and able to enjoy privacy if needed. Would book again in a heartbeat!

Birthday retreat

The room was very relaxing with an extremely comfortable bed and pillows. The back garden was very cute and quiet. The walk paths were great for an early morning coffee break. Fresh fruit in the morning was great! The owners were amazing and easily communicated to help with accommodating our arrival schedule and answering any questions of the area. Definitely would want to visit again!

A peaceful and spacious place with a beautiful garden—great for relaxing or short term stays.

It was very lovely place to stay over at. The incredible garden and the back patio at the back are huge. The rooms are spacious, bright, clean and cozy. It's also very quite and there are 3 incredibly friendly dogs that we got a chance to pet!

Location is in the residential area, so there is not much walkable places around. Also be aware that in order to get to the bathroom you might cross paths with other residents.

Convenient, comfortable, affordable, but the set-up was more like a boarding house.

Hosts thought of every detail, e.g. good coffee pods, to go cups, unexpected breakfast, water bottles, robe, plenty of towels, and things I didn't use but were nice, eg chocolates, loofah mitts, fridge, microwave... Also the bed and pillows were very comfortable! And the hosts were very nice and accommodating.

The bathroom was across the hall from the room, right next to another guest's room, and you could hear the other guest going in and out of their room, even though they were quiet. The air fresheners were a bit heavy and seemed to be covering up old odors?

It was a very homey experience. The couple that runs it are over the top friendly and helpful. The backyard where you eat breakfast or whatever was beautiful and relaxing. Janie was also very helpful in directing us on places to eat.

We liked this but some people may not. This is not your typical vacation "hotel" The rooms are small and the bathroom is directly across the hall. You have a private entrance and a private bath. It is great for a single person or for a couple who want something romantic and quaint. It is not for the young or mature partiers.

This is indeed just a house in the middle of a neighborhood in Carlsbad. It's not near much activity, just a shopping center. Also, the bathrooms are not connected to the rooms, you need to walk into a hallway to access them so they feel shared. This stay is like a "Room in a home" on Airbnb.
