Volcanoes Over View Safaris & Camp

Great location, comfortable tents, amazing view, fire place, friendly and service minded staff. Arranged transport to/from Kigali, guides for hiking etc

The food - breakfast minimal and dinner also quite limited, great soups though. The Bar didn’t have much to offer, recommend them to sell local beer. No drinking water in the rooms Challenges with water (for washing, toilets, shower)

Michael is a super genuine and friendly hotel owner and host, and he and his staff go out of their way to get to know their guests and make sure they're comfortable and having a great trip. He helped me organize all of my transportation and checked in throughout my stay. The safari tents are robust and really clean and comfortable, with great bedding. The bathrooms are a bit rustic, but the shower is hot, and you're at a national park anyways! The tents have a fabulous view of the volcanos for sunrise and sunset. The restaurant on site has delicious meals that really feel like local, home-cooked food. I never once looked at a menu, just asked for whatever they recommended, and was made tasty, hearty, healthy meals with local flavors. Breakfast is very hearty, too, before your daily excursions. Another great perk is that the camp is not in the downtown area, but instead in the woods surrounded by trails. It's really pleasant and a lot quieter than the town for walking and stretching your legs, and very safe as it's on the same path as the police center. I was able to walk a pleasant mile to and from the Diane Fossey center, and felt safe, comfortable, and content as a solo female traveler throughout my stay.
