Beautiful hotel and amazing staff including Hemed and Ali who are superb.
Yet mixed feeling as if you plan to come for the beach and ocean experience and not just for the hotel rooms and pools , there are many days when there is absolutely no beach. The low tide is an amazing phenomenon in the east coast but when we were there we didn’t have a beach and had to take a one hour taxi to go for the whole day to kendwa or nungwi beach. Not a big deal but what’s the point to take a beautiful hotel and not use its services during the day. Why pay extra for beach chairs?
The staff directed us to kendwa rocks which offers a great beach and comfy restaurants. You do have to buy in advance a card for about 12$ for each person high you can use for chairs and food which we easily spent….
I did wish that we can take TOA and Hemed and Ali to those north beaches but I guess that next time I will look for hotels in those beaches. If you do choose TOA check the tide schedule for your time there. You may be luck and have high tide during the day in the time you plan to be at Zanzibar.
