Location was beautiful. Huts fairly close together so possibly not so peaceful in the summer but still only a handful of huts. Really is a beautiful location.
Close proximity to other huts but that’s a personal thing.

Private and it was surrounded by nature.
Blankets were too thin for my liking and the pillows were too hard.
Side note try not to use all of your log wood before bed as it gets cold this time of year!👀
We struggled sleeping due to the temperature dropping🙈

Being welcomed to check in early when I was quite happy to wait until 3pm.
It was much better equipped than the description led me to believe.
Walking distance to a good pub with excellent food
The absolutely dire last minute arrival instructions.
It is normal to receive some sort of arrival information between booking and travelling on the day. There was none until after leaving home on the day of arrival. Unsatisfactory.
W3W is the norm for travel to remote locations.
The text description was fine, but challenging for the lone traveler.

The beds were really comfy. The wood burner was fantastic. Shower good. Kitchen facilities great. Location good: Holne village, with good shop and pub close by.
Would have appreciated some hooks in bathroom and living space to hang things. The steps to upper bunk need to be deeper than an inch because painful getting up and down. It would be great to have a dimmer switch on main lighting: it was either full on bright or off.

Location, cute place, well stock with cutlery etc
Its a bit annoying that towels arent provided which I guess is manageable, but providing wood but not kindling and firelighters is frustarting.

Incredible location, very quiet.
I must not have seen the note about towels not being provided. We travelled from the US and didn’t pack any, managed to improvise.

Great value for money, had everything we need and the staff were super helpful and kind!
Not having a bathroom but that was our choice:)

Location was brilliant. Loved the shepherds hut, perfect mix of comfort whilst getting an outdoor experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our fire pit. The hot shower and comfy beds were just what we needed after a day of walking the hills. Would definitely stay again. Don’t forget to bring your own towels and hand wash soap though.
Hooks for towels in the bathroom would be nice but to be honest everything else was spot on.

Excellent value and great location in peaceful valley on the edge of the moor. Clean and well designed with a dedicated outdoor space. We really appreciated the shaded tree covered spot during the warm weather

Quiet, natural site with sufficient space between huts. Good if slightly late communications (if you’re travelling getting the welcome email after you’ve left home is not ideal).
Well designed hut with fridge and efficient, fast double burner hob. Decent sized WC/Shower room. Good space for two people with maybe sufficient for a couple of small children.
Comfortable sleeping platforms.
No hot water in shower or sink taps, which I could have coped with, with advanced knowledge but not at 04.45 in the morning when getting up and preparing for a major sporting event.
Previous occupant’s food still in fridge

Beautiful shepherd's hut in a very peaceful location in rural Devon. Perfect overnight stay on our Two Moors Way walk. We picked up supplies to cook dinner at the Holne Community shop , about a 20 minute walk away.
Great to have bathroom in the hut and looking facilities too.

Log burner was excellent - it kept us warm well into the night! Very efficient once it gets going - you definitely only need 3-4 logs. The beds were very comfortable.
They do not provide kindling. However they do explain this on the booking email so you just have to come more prepared.

Beautiful surroundings, quiet and peaceful.
The shepherd's hut was fabulous with such comfortable beds and a little home from home. Outdoor space was much bigger than expected, with plenty of room for sitting outdoors and enjoying the bbq fire pit.
We shall definitely be coming back and have already told friends about this hidden gem in the devon countryside.
Nothing to say

We needed somewhere to rest after a long day of walking The Two Moors Way and this was perfect.
We would have loved to have stayed longer to enjoy the facilities more.

Great place very beautifully located close to dartmmor national park.
We had everything we needed.
We could light a bonfire, we had a tripod for bbq and a small fireplace inside the hut which gave us warmth and atmosphere.
The hut is well equipped and very clean.
We had a great time.
Highly recommend this place.

A very nice and well-equiped hut in a remote and quiet location. A great place to relax and stay close to nature. Every hut has its own "yard" which is of a good size and includes a campfire place and a picnic table.
Beds are a bit short for someone who is very tall (I am 6'7"). The wood we purchased in the camp was not dry enough, so it took a long time and a bit of effort before it started comfortably burning. But this is only a very minor issue with an otherwise excellent overall experience.

I enjoyed sitting by the fire, drinking wine whilst listening to the evening song and my two children playing in the babbling brook. They also enjoyed the lambs, exploring the numerous dens and tree swings and finding crystals in the stream.
The hut was comfortable, and warm and cosy with the wood burner.
Staff were helpful with solutions and also gave us a later check out time due to our situation of car dying enroute and a couple of issues.
I didn't get a reply from questions I sent before our visit.
We'd broken down on our way so arrived at dusk and very tired, there wasn't any toilet roll and the door handle inside the hut just came off. Messaged Staff, who later offered to come down, but we'd made do with getting a roll from the communal toilets and could shut and lock the door anyhoo, so it was fine really.
My youngest didn't like a couple of resident spiders in the bathroom so I had to keep making them scurry and hide away to pretend they were gone 😅

This is a fantastic location, with beautiful scenery and a lovely stream running through the campsite. Our kids have already requested a return trip! The room was well kitted out, very clean and a good size for a family with two small children. Overall a fun experience!
The interior door handle was broken - it fell off when closing the door! We also only got check in information (including that no towels are provided) on the morning of our check in; it would be great to get all the relevant information a few days in advance to help with planning! It would be great to have metal tongs to cook with on the fire - we noticed that the plastic tongs had been used (and partially melted...) by previous users.

The check in process was very easy, the location beautiful, very clean and well presented, appreciated the complimentary logs and kindling and the outside lights were beautiful.
The shower was great and nice and warm and clean. Outside the table and chairs and fire pit were lovely to use in the sunny weather. Parking was very handy close to the hut as well which was a plus.
Only issue was the top bunk is very close to the ceiling so my 4 year old hit her head quite a few times in the night when waking up so I slept badly. I was unable to put her on the bottom bunk as my elderly mother was there. Even just grabbing her water bottle I smacked my head twice. Lowered just a small amount especially near the ladder would make it 5 star!

We had a fantastic night in a Herdwick hut. The beds were very comfy, and the little stove made it extremely warm and cosy, though it was rainy and chilly outside. There was everything we needed in the hut in terms of utensils, pots, etc. My two children loved it as well.

Not easy to find especially in the dark. When we arrived there was crumbs all in the bed which wasn't very inviting. Very cold in the winter even with the fire on. My son left his mobile phone there by accident on the kitchen counter, I've since messaged the owner without any response. I wouldn't book again for this reason, the phone wasn't expensive but my son has autism and uses it to regulate. There's no way it hadn't been found by the owner as it was on the countertop. Very disappointed that somebody could do that.

I’m sure I have already submitted a review & said that you cannot assume that all people booking are driving cars. If guests are not driving they need a few extras. Towels tea & coffee. It is very difficult to get accommodation & this was my only possible near the 2 Moors walk

It was so peaceful and the stream was a bonus for the kids. Remember to bring some fire lighters as there aren't any and the campfire is a must.
Would definitely do it again over a hotel.
The bunk beds are fab, just remember that the ceiling is right above you.
