Located in the lovely community of Sky High Ranch, this three story home is five miles from Bear Valley and across the street from the small pond. The home offers 3 bedrooms plus a sleeping loft over the living area. It also has 2.5 bathrooms. You enter into a generous mudroom, which is nice to have in the winter for gear and snowy clothes. There are two bedrooms and a bathroom on this bottom floor. One small bedroom has a queen and the other has a bunk bed with a double on the bottom and a twin on top. There is also a full bathroom with a shower. On the main floor is the light filled living room area with cathedral ceilings and two sliding glass doors to a large deck (may not be accessible in winter). Between these two sliders is a stone hearth fireplace (firewood provided). Behind this room is the dining area with a pass through to the nicely sized kitchen. The kitchen offers a refrigerator with the rare ice maker, a toaster, coffee maker, and large window over sink with a back door leading to a small deck. This floor also has another full bathroom with a shower over tub. This bathroom has a washer and dryer behind closet doors. The upper level has a loft with a twin bed as well as a queen bed and opens up to the living room. The back bedroom offers another queen bed, and a twin sized daybed complete with a trundle and a closet with two more sleeping pads. The upstairs bathroom is a half bath, which is nice for nighttime. The deck offers views of the pond, BBQ and lounge chairs.

We enjoyed out stay at the Sky High Cabin. Bear Valley Vacation Rental staff were helpful and responsive to requests and issues during our stay. Important to note that Bear Valley Lake and amenities are not accessible when you stay at Sky High Ranches even though the lake is advertised on all the rentals through BVVR. This was disappointing for us as we wanted to use the lake. Also, we were there during HOT weather in the summer and the windows were not to be opened (no screens) even though the upstairs was VERY hot and there was no air. We are used to putting fans in the windows at night so this was frustrating. It did cool down at night (into the 40s) but the 3rd floor of the house stayed very warm. I don't think it got much below 80. The bottom floor was very cool and comfortable. There is so much to do in the high country that you can't go wrong staying at any of the BVVRs, but there should be better advertising about the amenities with each rental. Lake Alpine is always awesome - we've been vacationing in this area for years.

We had to drive extra 5 miles and back just to get a door code! Why couldn’t it be done by email or text message?!
Also, there were only two cooking pots in the kitchen, both terribly scratched. For such a place adding couple of stainless steel pots would be huge improvement. All other kitchen equipment was perfect.

The house was perfect for the 12 of us! Comfortable, with everything we needed! The kids loved the sleds! We loved the fresh air and great location!
