We booked the family room as it had a private bathroom; it was spacious, with even a table and chairs, and a fridge! The beds were very comfortable, and the shower was great. It was the only time we had a kettle in our room in 3 weeks of travelling around Chile, which was a nice added extra! We also liked the little communal kitchen. Although the area around the bus station isn't the best in Valparaiso, we wanted to be here for our early departure bus; with two key codes needed to access the hostal, we felt safe. We used the local bus to zip along to the main part of the city, and the funicular to get up to the more touristy area.

I didn't realise I would get access codes on arrival day to get into the building, so hadn't looked at my Booking.com messages. Therefore, we arrived at the door with no way to get in initially. It was sorted out with a phone call, and I subsequently saw all the messages from the owner with very clear instructions (and photos) of how to locate and access the property. She was extremely prompt at answering other queries during our stay.

In the middle of the town. Close to public transport options. Fairly quiet area at night (not during the day).

Tiny, cluttered bathroom / toilet area. Not ideal for bigger people. Very cramped space.
