Great old place on the main square for a great price.
The town itself is beat down. Homeless guy in the center of the square is a fixture. Gave him a Pepsi and he was delighted. He is still there. Spent the day looking for the nice parts of town. Will try again tomorrow.

The owners were wonderful.
The hotel itself is very old and Quaint. The room was large and comfortable.
The area is very shady even in daylight. There are not many restraints open at night. We did find one decent one a short walk away.

Good price (with respect to other options in Valparaiso available when I book); overall good location: it is down the hills, but close to the most interesting areas; easy parking nearby
The hotel is old-style (you can see from the pics); no aircon; busy road, so you can't leave the window open; no elevetor and steep stairway - and my room was at the third floor. Cleaning of the room should be improved
