Avoid This B&B: Hospitality at Its Worst

The only truly positive moment of the entire stay was the moment I walked out the door — finally able to leave this place behind and escape what felt more like a horror house than a B&B.

Some people simply shouldn’t work in hospitality, and the owner of this B&B is a perfect example. The check-in was extremely unfriendly—more reminiscent of the times I used to cross the Russian border than of arriving at a guesthouse. You’re confronted with a list of items in the room and you’re required to sign for their presence, complete with photos and a contract. This contract also states that you must leave the room “clean,” but what exactly does “clean” mean? In my case, the owner refused to refund €150 because of a small residue of toothpaste in the bathroom, a few hairs in the shower, a couple of glasses in the dishwasher (which I had already turned on that morning), and a waste bin that I apparently should have emptied. I travel roughly 100 nights a year for work, and have done so for the past 10 years, and I have never—truly never—experienced anything like this. This must be one of the most unfriendly B&Bs in the world. Before the owner tries to respond, I made sure to take photos at check-out, which I’m uploading here so you can see that I left everything perfectly tidy. If you’re used to military camps, by all means stay here. But if you’re looking for a pleasant holiday, do not come here. These people are simply not trustworthy.

Mooie locatie, vriendelijke, gastvrije eigenaren. Fijne, schone kamer, goede bedden. Heerlijk ontbijt met eigen gebakken brood, op zondag vlaai en ontbijtproducten uit de regio. Genoten.

Mooie locatie met een vriendelijke ontvangst. Restaurantjes in de buurt tegen een prima prijs. Ontbijt uitstekend geregeld. Eigen gemaakte producten. Geen overdaad. Genoeg. Echt een aanrader als je in de buurt bent. Wij waren een rondje aan het rijden in de grensstreek.

Er viel niets tegen. Alleen een aandachtspunt. Onze kamer had de douche met een hoge instap + toilet boven. Voor oudere mensen is dat wat lastiger. Voor de rest zag het sanitair er schoon en netjes uit.

Mooie locatie, leuke ontvangst met koffie en vlaai, zeer goed ontbijt. Prachtig opgeknapt historisch gebouw in rustige omgeving. Goed bed.

Voor doucheruimte/toilet moesten we in de kamer een trap op.

Van pand was meer te maken, zowel qua inrichting als beleving.

Prima uitvalsbasis voor het verkennen van de streek. Mooie tuin met mogelijkheid voor stallen van fietsen.

Kostelijke early check-in; gastheer komt nogal stug en weinig klantvriendelijk over (hoewel dit waarschijnlijk niet altijd bewust is); duplex kamer met toilet en badkamer op bovenverdieping; automatische licht en ventilatie in badkamer met zeer lange timerfunctie hetgeen ‘s nachts niet prettig is.

Niet goed de kamerbeschrijving gelezen en daardoor niet op de hoogte van het feit dat de badkamer via een trap vanuit de kamer bereikbaar was; dat was 's nachts erg ongemakkelijk.

lichten en ventilator in de badkamer (kamer 3) gingen automatisch uit maar dat duurde relatief lang. de kamers (2 en 3) waren erg warm van de dagen ervoor; tweede hitte golf van het jaar. de b&b was een voormalig paardenstal uit de zeventiende eeuw; weinig aan te doen waarschijnlijk tijdens tropische warme dagen. de gastheer was niet altijd vriendelijk. al vermoed ik dat dat niet bewust was maar eerder ‘het aard van het beestje’. de zondagochtend was de beste man goed gehumeurd maar de avond ervoor niet.

Super verblijf gehad in deze B&B. Op een top locatie als je Limburg wilt bezoeken per fiets, motor etc. Zeer authentieke locatie met veel rust en ruimte en een keurige kamer en badkamer. Zeer gastvrije ontvangst e.d.

Leuk verblijf

Locatie is geweldig als je van wandelingen in de natuur of van fietsen houdt. Op 200m van de B&B heb je een geweldig restaurantje met topbediening! Zelden zo lekker gegeten voor die prijs. Parkeren kan in de straat, maar het is iets omslachtiger als je de auto wil in/uitladen. Grote kamer.

Het zwembad is nogal pover en niet echt die naam waard. Het ontbijt is ok, maar eerder basic. De badkamer boven is wat minder evident en is vrij basic. Prijs kwaliteit is het eerder aan de dure kant.

Très chouette B&B

Acceuil au top, avec une petite tarte aux cerises délicieuse. La chambre était agréable et le petit déjeuner excellent.

Attention, l’escalier pour accéder à la chambre est raide ainsi que celui pour accéder à la salle de bains, je ne conseille donc pas cette chambre aux personnes à mobilité réduite.

Goede ligging, authentieke hoeve

Locatie in een oude hoeve is prachtig . Dicht bij de Geul en mooie wandelroutes. Zelfgemaakte vlaai bij aankomst, bij het ontbijt zelfgemaakte jam en zelf gebakken brood. Locale producten en goede koffie.

Erg warm op de kamer, badkamer via een trap naar boven...daar nog veel warmer... Eigenaar is niet zo heel vriendelijk, zijn vrouw daarentegen wel erg aardig .. wij hadden een erg kleine kamer, de gele kamer. Andere kamers zijn groter..

De ligging, mooie ruime kamer, goede bedden, fijne douche én het ontbijt! (Mooie en rustige omgeving, wandelen!) En aanrader: we kregen als gasten korting bij restaurant de remise, op steenworp afstand. Het is écht aan te raden, lekker gegeten!

het ontbijt was prima in orde. een croissantje, bananenbroodje, je kon kiezen uit een gebakken of gekookt eitje.

de koffie had wel beter gekund. je had maar een half bakje koffie ! (of ligt dit aan mij ?)
