Worst weekend away ...

There was not much to like about this property apart from the surrounding woodlands - it's the first time in 17 years of organising a family girls trip that one of the ladies went home on arrival because she wouldn't stay in the accommodation due to the state of the bed.

TAKE NOTE - THE PICS ON THE PAGE ARE VERY OLD PICTURES - PROBABLY FROM WHEN THE LODGE WAS FIRST PURCHASED - PLEASE DON'T GO OFF THESE !!! On arrival it was obvious that the property hadn't been cleaned from the last tenants. There was dust on every surface, especially in the bathrooms so we had to clean those before any toiletries could go on them. I don't think the skirting boards in the ensuite had ever seen a duster plus mould behind the bath. The shower in the other bathroom was dirty, there was still hair in there from the previous tenant as well. There was also, what I call, dust webs in every room - lots of them ! The grill pan in the kitchen hadn't been cleaned. And as for the bedrooms, I've thrown better bedding away than what was on the bed in the ensuite room. The mattress / protector / bedding in the double bedroom at the end of the hall was disgusting - I dread to think what the stains where. There was a used paper hanky near the bed in the other double bedroom - it was sticking out from under the bed but was visible without having to look for it. The furniture in the lounge was so old and there was hardly any faux leather on the bucket chair or the back of the sofa. I would be embarrassed if that property was mine and someone had paid to go (we paid nearly £500 for 3 nights in Nov - what a rip off!) - it needs to be stripped, deep cleaned and new furnishings. I could go on but what's the point - after reading the reviews when we got back yesterday, it looks like the same complaints have been made for the past year at least. Cleanliness was none existent. THE FUNNY THING WAS - THE SIGN OUTSIDE THE FRONT DOOR - PLEASE TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF BEFORE ENTERING THE PROPERTY ! It wouldn't have made any difference .... so disappointed that the weekend was ruined and I felt guilty because I was the one that had booked it.

OK great location and lodge size was perfect.

Location and size of lodge was perfect

Cleanliness of the whole lodge was not very good. The children found hair n their bed and I found a piece of glass on the floor. There was also mould in the en suite bathroom which put us off having a lovely bath. We enjoyed the lodge but was wary of how clean it was and the sofa cushions, carpets, and general up keep needs a good cleaning or replacement.

the property was very dirty, bedding was not clean and the whole place was full of spider webs and the carpets were badly stained and the all rooms smelled really bad. beds were uncomfortable.

Lovely peaceful getaway

Comfortable, has everything you need a short drive away, beautiful area and really cozy ✨ We spent a week enjoying nature walks, sleeping in and hanging out and it was the best place for a slow and chill getaway. The kitchen was the perfect size and usable and had most the essentials to be able to cook a meal for 6! The bath was lovely in the en suite and the deck looked over a tiny stream which is beautiful. There is a nice lounge and dining area to spend time and play board games, short walk to a grassy bit by the lake, there were some facilities like swimming pool and restaurant we didn't really use but nice to have so close.

The bed was a bit too much on the soft side and a bit small for my partner who is quite tall, but that is partially a preference thing so it was a small hiccup.

Appalling, booking.com should be vetting!

Rotten inside, smelly, scruffy furniture. Complained and nothing was done, to both host and booking.com. utterly shocking and we left early. Paid best part of a grand, would have been better off camping.

Boiler!!! Lack of hot water even after speaking with host to raise pressure on boiler next day dropped again?? Wouldn't raise up no hot water at all for 3 days!!!

Good for 2+ days stay

The house itself is amazing. There is also a swimming pool in the leisure center, and an amazing spot for a picnic in the marina.

Checkout time is strictly 10am (with checkin at 4pm), which makes 1-night stay a questionable investment. We were asked to leave right after 10.

Lodge near facilties , great family get together

All amenities you need are in the lodge ,very near to the shop, restaurant and bar .at white cross bay, The local buses 599 or 555 to Ambleside,Windermere.Keswick , Kendal only £2 , (single fares only ) little problems in lodge were fixed promptly . Powerful hairdryer in drawer in bedroom

The Lodge needs a little bit of an update . But has all you need in living room /kitchen , a bit more teaspoons maybe ? double beds on the smaller size for 2 adults , back bedroom on the right, needs more brighter lights in it . But we loved our stay with the family in it . The maintenance team, could do with dusting the fan, on the ceiling, please, in the livingrooom .

Terrace doors both broken, so that terrace use is not really usable. Bathroom not completely clean, needs revision. Parts for shelves in the fridge were missing. Wifi not the best. No manual for the washingmachine.

The size of the property was bigger than expected and had all the benefits of a home.

Location was good, and easy to travel to other areas and lakes around Windermere, including walking to Windermere town. We did not use the restaurant/bar facilities nor the swimming pool.

We removed all the fluffy cushions due to dust allergies - not a big problem. We had to wash a number of dishes due to soap residue from the dishwasher. Not big issues.

Nice place to stay!

Great location - nice and calm but it's also not too far from shops, restaurants and attractions. Big rooms, very cleand, comfortable and well equipped.

Definitely the internet. It's impossible to find the right place to catch the wifi signal. Especially when you are traveling in group of six... Also - lack of shampoos, kitchen towels etc etc. It takes a lot of space in your luggage. No BBQ.

Lodge is in a beautiful place.

There's spiderweb everywhere, should be bigger sortiments with plates. Comunication with front desk was awful. We was given wrong key safe code and was locked outside for several hours without any help. We was told we have no right to ask for right code and no solution was given from them. Dishes after using dishwasher was stinking. Beds could do with better mattresses.

Lovely Relaxing Break

The lodge was lovely; modern, well presented & well stocked; and plenty of room in the lounge/dining/kitchen areas. The lodge's close location in proximity to the clubhouse was handy (although it does result in a lot of people/cars passing by the lodge). The thermostatically-controlled central heating in the lodge meant we could control the temperature easily and meant it was warm and cosy during poorer weather. A WiFi router was installed during our stay meaning that the lodge is now served by the site's WiFi, which was very handy as none of our mobiles could get phone signal.

The mattresses on two of the beds were really firm making them very uncomfortable to sleep on. The bedrooms (particularly the 2nd and 3rd) were very tight on space, making moving around in them tricky, but, as we didn't spend much time in them, this wasn't too big an issue for us, but may be worth bearing in mind depending on your needs/preferences.
