Situated in the center of Mühlen, the castle—perched atop a masonry plinth—overlooks the entire village.
It offers views into both the Neckar Valley and the Eutingen Valley.

"Between 1668 and 1675, Georg Christoph von Schönfeld constructed a stately residence at the fork in the road leading toward Bildechingen. The current castle was commissioned by Christian, Baron von Münch, in 1809 to replace the previous structure, which had been destroyed by fire on July 14, 1807. Since then, the castle has served a wide variety of functions; it underwent its most recent renovation between 2015 and 2020. Today, the castle houses residential apartments."

In the immediate vicinity of the Neckar, which is ideal for canoe tours. Adjacent to the Stauffenberger Forest nature reserve, with the footpath through the Eutingen valleys or the path along the tunnel platforms to the beer garden in Horb as local recreation destinations.
The Neckar Valley Cycle Path, a signposted cycle path along the Neckar, the route runs around 410 km from Villingen-Schwenningen via Stuttgart to Mannheim.
The Way of St. James, in the direction of Freiburg or Strasbourg, also leads directly past.
