Terrace Gardens

I like the place for its location, quality and service.

The property is lovely. It doesn't feel like a hotel but like a cosy guesthouse. The terrace area is cute, all done up with plants and flowers. Extra points for the gym room, which was the main reason we chose the place (after location); it had a great view too. I would give 9/10 for just the property and the staff. The staff was super sweet and helpful. There's a sweet little puppy, Daisy, on site too. Location is great: walking distance to some good restaurants nearby. Note: there is construction work happening right outside and all along the road, so carry your masks. The room was spacious and fairly clean, and there was hot water in the bathroom.

The whole place feels a little dated. While it has a charm, there are small things that can be done to elevate the experience. The bedding, the cupboards, the ironing board...all could've benefited from an upgrade. The water filter we used looked like it had seen better, cleaner days. The shower handle came out mid-bath. If I am paying this amount, I would expect better facilities. I would still want to return. Our biggest grouse: the wifi. It was terrible throughout (there were some peaks of good connection), and actually necessitated us going to a coffee shop to work.

The breakfast was superb — hygienic, delicious, and served with good variety and quantity every day.

The hotel was very clean at check-in, and I found the same level of cleanliness maintained throughout my 5-day stay. However, the lift was non-operational during my visit. Overall, everything else was good and I had a pleasant experience.

Terrace Gardens is a reasonably priced bed & breakfast (B&B), well located on Brunton Cross Road (which is presently dug up by the Corporation for construction of a drainage system) and not far from MG Road. We found the staff, Ms. Mary at the front desk and Mr. Mohan, the night manager, very friendly and responsive to our requests. The south Indian breakfast on the terrace garden was an excellent start for the day. We appreciated their understanding for a late check-in, for our arrival. As late check-out was not available, the B&B allowed us to store our luggage at the hotel for the afternoon, for our departure.

We were given room no. 101, located on the ground floor. The room was described as a "Superior King Suite". Oddly, it did not resemble the pictures of such a room on the booking.com site. While the bathroom was clean and a fresh bed cover was provided the next day, the room has seen better days. A little attention to detail (such as a cleaner sofa, newer batteries in the remote controls, cleaner drinking water glasses, etc.) would have gone a long way to improve the B&B experience.
