The view alone would get this house 5 stars! Waking up every morning to look out from the patio to the waves crashing on the shore, beautiful sunrise over the water, and sea turtles galore! We even saw spinner dolphins from the house! A quick walk down to the bech to play in the water, using their provided boogie boards and snorkels was amazing! Very clean and accommodated my whole family. Having separated and defined sleeping areas as well as places we could gather as a large group was incredible. We could have just stayed there the whole time with how relaxed and welcoming it felt. Next time we go to Kauai, we will stay here again!

We had such a great and memorable two weeks here! The house and view was amazing. Although we explored the island, we did have a couple chill days at the house, and it was amazing to be surrounded by such natural beauty. We were able to comfortably use the kitchen and enjoy both the outdoor and indoor eating areas. We used the grill a couple times as well, and it was incredible to be staring at the ocean while barbecuing. And every night we ended our day with an amazing view of the ocean and the night sky, whether from the deck or the side patio. Every room in the house was able to hear the crashing waves as we slept. We absolutely loved staying here and would totally do it again!

We loved our stay in Poipu! As others have said, this property’s location cannot be beat! Views were amazing, we saw turtles and more turtles! The location is fabulous and we loved walking down to the beach. The only downside was not having AC in the main house. There is a wall AC unit in the attached studio, and it worked great. Also, in response to some reviews I’d read that said it was rundown, I actually thought it was very clean and I loved some of the retro vibes/ decor throughout the house. There were some visible signs of wear and tear but those didn’t impact our stay. Check in was also super easy. With AC it would be a 5/5!

I just wish we would have booked it for longer, description does not mention it but it had a lot of snorkel gears, beach chairs , umbrellas. Overall the views and location makes up for home being a bit rusty, as a family we just lived waking up to turtles swimming around while we sipped our morning coffee and enjoyed sunset from the same balcony in the evening

Unfortunately, this was not the experience that I thought that we would have at Hale Moku.The house is on a beautiful piece of property. On the outside it looks great. But on the inside, it wasn’t what we were expecting. Especially for the price. When you get to the “front” sliding door, there aren’t any lights so it was hard to get the key and open the door.On the VRBO listing, it states that the house is air conditioned. It is not an air conditioned house! There is a separate room air conditioned with a small and aged unit.Without any air conditioning in the main part of the house, you use glass louver windows. Even though the sound of the waves during the day is nice, it isn’t at night when you have all of the windows open because the house is so hot! There were at least 3 windows that didn’t have shades on them.The kitchen had very minimal supplies and the plates were mismatched sets of old plates. The sheets were not as crisp and clean as you would normally have, but the beach towels were clean. But the one of the worst discoveries was a pair of dusty shorts underneath one of the twin beds that had been there awhile.We had an encounter with a large wasp and other bugs that I am assuming might be termites? The day before we left the house next door was tented for pest control. The outside decks are needing boards to be replaced. On a lower patio section there was a broken chair.Air conditioning and some repairs would improve this property!

We loved the home! The views were amazing. We watched turtles and whales every day from the deck!! Each of our kids had their own space. The great dining room table fit us all so we could gather in the morning and the evening!! The homes decor was very appropriate and very eclectic . We loved it. The private studio for the family with the infant was so perfect!! The home had 2 boogie boards a surf board and chairs!! Also umbrellas were great to bring to the beach. We would rent here again!!

The house was more than accommodating for our needs with 6 of us and the view was breathtaking! It was close to the beach and restaurants. Negatives: the garbage disposal didn’t work, some of the windows and blinds didn’t work, the oven in the guest house didn’t work, one of the showers didn’t work (the hot water handle just spun around). These are just small things that were inconveniences, but we would definitely stay again.

SHE NEEDS TLC…. The view is absolutely spectacular there is no doubt about that. The entire house needs to be updated and air-conditioning installed. I will never stay again unless it’s fully air-conditioned. A few of the windows would not open or close. Two out of three of the televisions did not work when we arrived. After reporting one not working, it was replaced 48 hours later by a very nice lady and gentlemen. Didn’t realize the other one did not work until we were ready to leave. All day rain one day and we had a few leaks. One on the stairs and one by a doorway. Great location for eating out, golfing, swimming, surfing or walking to the beach. Great neighborhood, someone just needs to invest in this old house.

As most reviews have mentioned the location and views are stunning. Whales, turtles, dolphins, seals, and birds were an absolute highlight. But also as most reviews have mentioned, the maintenance is far behind. We struggled with check in door codes, finding propane for BBQ, broken/missing/inoperable windows, fans, and blinds. During a strong storm we had water coming thru many windows including one over the stairs which required lots of towels and water catching receptacles. The kitchen works well but does lack any extras to prepare meals besides salt and pepper. The patio and decks above the ocean are superb view but also feel like some boards are nearing end of use and some railing is broken. The accompanying deck/patio furniture is also suspect besides a nice couch on the corner which doesn’t contribute to seeing the ocean. The supplied beach gear is helpful but also showing the age and wear/tear. The washer dryer is nice to help keep packing needs down. There is no outdoor shower to battle the sand so we used a yard hose. The house was clean on check in. Overall, the view is incredible but the overall condition can cause some stress and inconvenience.

House is set up perfectly. Almost like everyone had their own suite. Had everything we needed to cook all of our meals…..do bring spices other than S&P if needed. The view will make for any “issues” you “think” you have with the house. Would definitely come back.

The property did not have a good first impression. The overall appearance was disappointing. The night we arrive we were not able to enter the property with the code we were given and had to contact Vasaca to get a different code. The home needs some improvements. Alot of things need replaced (cabinets and floors) but even a new coat of paint would greatly improve the appearance. Some windows didn't work, blinds were missing or broken and it was very warm inside to sleep since there is not any air conditioning. The floor fans that were there did not provide much relief at night. The positive is the incredible view! Also, the outside grounds were well taken care of and we met the people who took care of them. The house was in a nice location and had alot of room but the appearance inside and out needs to be improved.

The central location, nice neighborhood, ocean front views and beautiful yard could not be beat. Our large family enjoyed walking to Poipu beach (if you go at sunrise, you can see the sea turtles going into the water for the day). We loved spotting dolphins and sea turtles from the yard, doing yoga on the balcony and stargazing. The location was a good homebase for the day trips that we had planned. The only negative was the house is older and we had some problems turning off the showers all the way, and turning on light switches etc. The house could use some updating. Nonetheless, we thought this house was perfect for our needs and loved our stay.

Our entire family enjoyed the fabulous view of the coast, crashing waves and sunsets. We had a difficult time with the access code but your local assistant helped us out. The kitchen had good appliances and cooking tools. A few more serrated knives would be nice. The photo misrepresented the property which was built in 1993. It is in great need of repair and paint. Many of the electrical outlets didn’t work and the air conditioning in the studio was more of a swamp cooler. Only 1 out of 3 portable fans worked. Cockroaches came into the master bath because the window needs repair. We hope to return in a few years but hope you make some well needed updates.

Definately lacking in a few features someone from out of state can't bring with them nor would want to purchase for such a short stay, including items such as spices and other items for cooking, foil, and extra rolls of paper towels.

We loved staying here! The views and sound of the ocean absolutely cannot be beat. The location is great and very close to both Poipu and Shipwreck beaches. We stayed in January and except for one particularly warm day, did not miss the A/C. While we would agree with some other reviewers that certain parts of the property could use updating, we found the place to be very clean and the furnishings comfortable. The house was VERY well equipped with anything you might need for a beach vacation, such as boogie boards, snorkeling gear, chairs, etc. We have small kids and were also impressed with the assortment of kids’ items, including a high chair, pack n’ play, even baby gates to block the stairs. Overall, we wouldn’t hesitate to stay again if/when we return to Kauai!

The views from this property are the best! The house needs a lot of TLC and updating and lots of creatures inside like roaches, lizards and ants as none of the doors or screens close tight so they can all just walk in whenever. Second level is extremely hot with no AC and does not cool down until around midnight. Having said all of that there was plenty of room and being on the ocean and listening to the waves was fantastic.

Rated as 3 stars, location and view are a 5, interior of the home is a 3. We loved the view, watching the wave action hitting the cliff side, the turtles that visited every day, and proximity to the beaches, a short walk. The downside is the home needs to address their maintenance issues. A small cost and effort would greatly improve the experience. Specifically, deep cleaning of the home, repair/replace window coverings (some are broken snd some are missing), sliding door and window tracts need cleaning for ease to operate, some furniture needs replacement/repair and some a cleaning. Certainly the value of this home is the location, exceptional view of the sea-life, sunsets and night sky.

This house had everything we wanted for a total Kauai experience. The view is outstanding for whales, dolphins, turtles and sunset. Quick walk to the beach for great swimming, surfing and snorkeling. Comfortable beds, clean. Well stocked kitchen. Beach gear including towels all provided. Had a couple of minor issues like coffee pot that were resolved very quickly by the very friendly staff. This is an older, classic house with some wear, but perfect for what we wanted. We didn't want to leave. Mahalo!

Location, Location, Location - The only thing that would have made this house better in my opinion would be air conditioning. I was under the impression that several rooms had AC, but it was only the studio that had outdoor access. The home was very uncomfortable during the day in July. Luckily, we found ourselves out and about most days. The evening cooled off enough to sleep comfortably. Enough complaining, this place is magnificent, I have been home one day and already miss the ocean waves crashing on the shore. Not sure how I will ever sleep well again without them it was hypnotic. The home has 3 bedrooms with king beds and the studio with king bed and two twin beds in a room with curtains which is perfect for 2 kids. There is also the loft which was my room this is also the hottest part of the house, but the views and the private deck made it worth it to me. if I travel with a large party to Koloa again, I will try and get this home. Our two weeks here included a lot of short walks to Poipu beach. Early morning and sunsets walks were worth the trip all by themselves. I highly recommend Koloa zip lines, and Island Helicopters. The Jurassic Landing tour was amazing and more than I expected. Our fishing trip was on rough waters so you don't want my opinion on that (lol). Aloha and Mahalo to Vacasa for providing this home!

We really enjoyed our week here on Kauai. Having a 2-level porch/deck overlooking the cliffs and ocean just can't be beat. The beds were very comfortable and the 9 of us had what we needed. The dining table seated us all and we enjoyed several meals there.. The kitchen had what we needed, but the ice maker was very slow. There are some issues where paint and repairs are needed, two of the sliding doors are quite difficult to slide and some cooling in the main house would be nice. It gets rather warm in the afternoon, but the ceiling fans and free standing fans do help and it does cool off in the evening. Having a home in FL we know about bugs and keeping them at bay. However we found more cockroaches in our week here than we do in a year in FL. Perhaps a new extermination service could do better. Overall, the pros outweigh the cons by a good margin. We would consider staying here again.

This is the best home we have ever stayed at in all of our travels. We had all of our adult kids with us and we didn’t want to leave. The view is unmatched and my favorite part is sitting in the porch with a morning cup of coffee. The house is well equipped and very welcoming and comfortable.

Our family of 7 (all adults) throughly loved Hale Moku 🌴 Plenty big enough for every one to have their own BR with attached bath, table space for family meals and games. The view is beyond fantastic, with daily turtle sightings right off the balcony. Loved EVERY minute and truly hated leaving. Hope to be back soon

This is as advertised. Plan to spend a lot of time on the balcony watching the waves. We saw dolphins, rays, and humpbacks. Even schools of fish off the side. Some of the appointments are dated, but they have done a nice job with personality pieces. Like every rental I've done in Hawaii, the light switches are impossible to find and the house needs updates, but it is a fabulous price and the advertised rates are fair. Strong recommendation.

5 Star Location and Views

We (three adult couples) scored 5 stars above solely for the perfect location of this house and the absolutely magnificent views. We sat on the deck every morning and evening and watched whales breach and sea turtles play in the cove below and the stunning sunrises and sunsets. We easily walked to Poipu Beach or caught the trail along the ocean to Shipwreck Beach and beyond. Beach towels, umbrellas and beach chairs were available for our use. The kitchen was supplied well with dishes, glasses, pots, pans, etc. The house is very private and we could not hear anything but the crashing waves and rooster every morning. Sadly, if we score the condition of the house, it would be about 2-3 stars. The house was definitely clean but needs some serious TLC. Many of the glass shutters on the windows don't work, some are missing. Some of the furniture was in sad shape, stuffing falling out of bottom of dining chairs, had to sit on pillows on these chairs to not feel like we would fall through. The electrical throughout the house was a mystery, many switches don't work and other switches and fan remotes turned on lights and fans in other locations. Some bathrooms, kitchen cabinets and other areas had serious mildew smells. Outside the decks and railings needed TLC and one railing leading down to a patio by the cove was downright dangerous having come loose. Deck chairs were usable but not in good shape. Vacasa could have supplied more soaps and shampoos in every bathroom as there was only enough for a couple of days. We fully understand how much maintenance it takes to keep up a property sitting right on the ocean, but they have let some maintenance go for way too long. It sounds like we had a miserable time, but we had a fabulous vacation there! As I started with, the views and location made up for a lot of deficiencies, probably one of the best locations in Poipu, it just needs some TLC.

One of the great things about this home is its fabulous location. Sitting atop the rocky coastline with the waves crashing just feet below is hard to beat. We spent hours sitting on the balcony watching for turtles below and whales further out. The night sky was beautiful. The home itself easily accommodated our family of eight and was very comfortable. One or two things could do with some TLC, but we still enjoyed our stay and would return again in the future.

We loved this home. This home is located in the best location on the island. The only set back was the main house has no AC. At night it was very nice, the winds are sufficient to cool the home. During the day the house is way too hot. We would stay again if they get AC.
