Excellent stay in Melkbos.

Friendly staff and breakfast was good. On the golf course and possible to play the Atlantic Beach links course. Close to Melkbos with it's excellent restaurants.

Special expierence at golf yard

Location within the golf yard is very nice with walking opportunities and some facilities on site. Some animals can be observed at site. Breakfast was ok and sufficient but selection limited and rather noisy due to TV.

The room and the bathroom in the small hotel were rather aged and outdated. Cleanness could also be better. The impression given by the pictures of the golf yard are misleading and not fully applicable to the hotel. The golf yard restaurant is of limited quality. Restaurants are at the waterfront in some km distance.

Good value for money.

My view over the golf course and the good breakfast buffet. Was surprised to see they have filter coffee on offer in the rooms with a plunger, it made my morning very special to enjoy a cup of good filter coffee on my patio, over looking the golf course while the players setting off.

Disappointing.

Good location. Spacious sized room.

The Lodge looks tired and in need of refurbishment. We were given the key to our Room 8 and discovered that the bed hadn’t been made up even though we arrived at 5 pm. It also smelt very musty. We were then given Room 14 which was much lighter and brighter. However the bathroom was not particularly clean - pubic hair and dust in the bath and black mould around the outside of the shower cubicle. We asked for it to be cleaned properly the next morning and also showed our cleaning lady the thick layer of black dust hanging off the top of our bedroom door. We noticed the same on other doors too. The outside of the door was thick with dust on the inset panels and also grubby. Generally the carpet leading up the stairs was also showing a lack of proper vacuuming. The overall impression was of lack of good housekeeping. No glasses in the room except for water tumblers. Given the price paid, our accommodation certainly didn’t live up to our expectations.

Proximity to the estate .

Very poor facilities , serious maintenance issues. Very out of date and tired . No privacy - windows with burglar bars. Windows in the shower with no blinds / covering. No bottled water in the room. Giant cable running randomly through the room. Should not have a 4 star lodge rating . No back up water (could not shower the one morning .

Excellent and accomodating

The staff was excellent, friendly and served us in Afrikaans. They called us a day before to determine our children's age and gender and made up their beds with themed covers. The breakfast was excellent and a range of kids cereal were also provided.

Ideal for a golfing getaway.

The peaceful atmosphere and surroundings. The early morning view of the 10th fairway with a herd of springbok is very relaxing. The lodge is ideal for a golfing getaway.

Nothing really at all. The building could, maybe, use a midlife update of the cosmetic type. A splash of paint here and there would go down very well.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and nice variety. Biscuits were a nice little treat. We only stayed for 1 night so didn't have an opportunity to explore the facilities.

Place looked very dated. Entrance is very dark. In room - Shower head didn't adjust so was awkward. Locks were old and problematic. Lock on bathroom latched from inside so we were locked out of the bathroom, had to call someone to unlock the bathroom early morning. TV reception and channels were poor.

Friendly welcome. Very helpful reception. Breakfast served with a smile from Katherine. Very convenient to Melkbos and beachfront areas. Restaurant available at golf club for lunch/ evening meals.

The wind howled through a faulty bathroom window, room 16. Fortunately when bathroom to sleeping area closed, it was acceptable. Also on arriving I was informed not to open another faulty window in the sleeping area! I reported to reception on leaving.
