Location. Open fire with plenty of logs.
Kitchen was poor, difficult to work in with poor lighting.Dishwasher had no top shelf. Microwave glass plate did not fit. There was no hair dryer. The furniture was very dated. The towels were really thin and old. The curtains in the rooms didn’t really fit. Very cold and draughty although owners did respond quickly to this providing extra heating and blankets.

Location for our intended touring itinery. Washing machine and dryer. History of the estate and family. Well equipped (if a little small) kitchen. Quite an interesting old building.
Small kitchen only really allowed one person to work in.

Loved how rural and old fashioned it was plus the open fire was a huge bonus.
I honestly did not find anything i did not like but maybe thicker mattress would be better

Location quiet and interesting
The crows attacking the windows at 6am :(
The entrance roads from either end are a potholed nightmare - but if you had a more suitable vehicle than me, maybe an SUV, you may not notice.
A more modern TV would be good too.

Fantastic, secluded, quiet location. Utterly beautiful grounds. Loads of colour and ancient trees. Great walking routes, perfect spot to cycle too.
Responsive and friendly host
Cottage was dated but everything worked
Spacious bedrooms
Travel cot was provided as requested
Beds could have been a bit more comfortable
I would warn against bringing a big shop of perishable food in one go as the fridge isn't huge

The cottage was roomy apart from the kitchen.
Tight kitchen, difficult for 2 people.
Dishwasher didn't have a top basket.
Duvet covers seemed old.
Didn't appreciate having to strip the beds on departure and put bedding in a bag (we had to leave at 0400).
Information was out of date-Bistro prices, still seem to be geared up for Covid.
We were not warned of awful road surface when approaching the property.
There was a sign down the track for walkers to get to the Bistro/shop but there were no other signs so had to abandon, return to take the car.

The location was great, easy access for day trips to Edinburgh and Loch Lomond.
The cottage was clean with most of what you need for a self catering holiday.
Easy to find but felt tucked away from the world so was lovely and peaceful.
My only criticisms would firstly be the mattress in the master bedroom, personally I didn’t find it all that comfortable however it didn’t bother my husband. Also the curtains in the master bedroom weren’t black out ones so as we were there in July it was light very early, not a problem for most people I imagine, I’m just a very light sleeper.

The cottage was clean and tidy and spacious certainly enough room for a family of 4 without being on top of each other.
Only downside was the internet speed could of been better especially if you have youngsters that would like fast Internet but if your not bothered about it then it’s enough to do mineable browsing and checking E Mail.

Location was ideal.
Very dated furnishings. Drive from main road to cottage a nightmare. Private road full of pot holes. Best suited for 4x4 vehicles.

The secluded location.
The non-corporate 'feel'.
The house was very clean.
Problems were responded to.
It was good to be able to sit outside.
Just a few minor things:
The windows didn't open.
The kitchen lacked a few things, e.g. a big pan.

The location was wonderfully atmospheric. The cottage was in the middle of woodland with an amazing ruined mansion house just round the corner. Early morning walks were fabulous. The friendly farm centre, with shop and bistro was a 10 minute walk through the woods. We had lovely traditional Scottish meals at the licensed bistro, and handmade pizzas to collect and eat outside one evening - all recommended. The cottage is traditional-style - lots of pine and the millennial young people with me complained that the wifi was too slow - but it was suitably equipped and had Covid-19 procedures in place. Another cottage was joined onto Laundry cottage and there were a few others nearby on the estate. We liked the tennis court and field for football, frisbee etc, the young people watched the large TV (not Smart TV) and we travelled to Edinburgh one day for the tourist experiences. The farm shop sells venison, wine and other local produce as well as Scottish souvenirs and crafts, but we needed to drive to nearby Lanark to buy essential foods. In winter, you can have a log fire as well as the storage heaters so it would make a lovely wintry break. All the cottages on this estate are highly recommended for anyone whose holiday is about nature, walks, restaurants, clean air, talking, tennis and history.
The access road to get to the cottage was in places very pot-holed and bumpy - resurfacing would be great, or just filling in the pot holes would save the suspension of the small urban cars as it's quite a long road.
