Enjoy a relaxing retreat on Chain O' Lakes in South Bend! Our place is a destination in itself, but also minutes from South Bend airport and the University of Notre Dame. Enjoy flexible sleeping areas and plenty of outdoor space, including a sandy beach and gazebo, complete with an outdoor TV. The property is surrounded on 3 sides by water, with boat traffic passing by between Big and Little Bass Lakes. It is private and quiet with plenty of parking space and a fenced side yard and doggy door for 4-footed guests. Guests are welcome to the use of 5 kayaks and 2 paddle boards, as well as a large foam water pad, spring through fall. Experienced ice fishers will enjoy the property in the winter.

A wonderland for all of us, from infant to grandpop! Two Augusts in a row and only better this time. The outdoor activities are hard to beat. The place was clean and attractive. It was well stocked, except for a toaster and coffee machine. But we brought our own coffee maker and toaster oven for cooking outside, so no big deal. It was very comfortable, 75 degrees inside and 93 out. Furniture is comfortable, bathrooms are very functional and thoughtfully organized. The pergola was a big hangout place when not in the water. Thanks Julia and Will. You've gotten our grandkids addicted to your place. They want to move there. Bruce

We had an amazing friends trip here celebrating a couple of birthdays! It was just as peaceful and welcoming as it looks in the photos. Even though it's on a street with other houses, it still feels very secluded. We loved the kayaks, the pavilion area with the fountain, TV, and fire table, and the unique home design. We did notice that the shower drains were backing up a bit, but it wasn't a big issue and everything else was absolutely perfect. Thank you!!

Beautiful property at the tip of the peninsula Lots of outdoor seating to enjoy the surroundings. Wish there was dedicated firepit area with seating. The loft sleeping area is unique but only accessible by ladder. We appreciated the variety of board games available for our use. We had issues with the AC during our stay, but appreciate how fast the host responded. We rented a pontoon boat from Vacationpontoonrental.com and they delivered it directly to the lake and put it in the water for us. The kids had so much fun swimming off the boat in the middle of the lake and using the lily pad. The beach access is pretty, has great views of the lake and is a good place to launch the kayaks and paddleboard but was not suitable for swimming due to seaweed growth. Our dog loved running around the property and swimming off the beach access. Enjoyed our stay and looking forward to returning.

I'm giving this the highest mark because our whole family had a great time outdoors, around the big kitchen table and with all the wonderful activities. They are fully stocked for inside and outside fun. However, the A/C was way under powered for summer. Downstairs was O.K. but it made sleeping upstairs in the loft a sweaty event for one couple. The master bedroom did fine because of the sliding glass door. Overall though, terrific! Thanks.

My family and I were above and beyond impressed with the house and property. The grounds were gorgeous and beautifully maintained and the house was the perfect size for our group. Every amenity was provided for and put to good use. We loved all of the water toys and took advantage of spending every night under the gazebo talking and making memories. We decided to rent a pontoon for our stay and used PONTOONRENTAL.COM to have a boat delivered and picked up from our site. What a game changer! Having a pontoon added even more excitement and fun to our days and we will continue to rent from Rex and his team.
Our communication with Will and Julia was always fast and easy. They had no problem answering my million questions and it was so nice to meet Will in person on our check in day. All in all, we had a great experience and are looking forward to staying there next year as well.
Couldn't have asked for a better home or host!

We woke up to a power failure and since the property is on septic and well - you cannot shower or use the toilets. We were rushed to get to graduation and army commissioning, so owner was kind to let us use his bathrooms but it was a 25 min drive. Then, the well water was brown after the power returned. It ruined an expensive blouse that I was washing in the washing machine. I still cannot get it white. Then the washing machine broke and wouldn’t spin. Finally, there were holes in some of the screen windows and bugs got in the house. The owner lied to
vRBO when we complained and asked for more of a refund by saying the brown water was from construction work in the street. It was on well water!!!! DO NOT STAY HERE!

Our stay was very enjoyable. We enjoyed fishing, swimming , and the lily pad off the dock. There were 3 kayaks and paddle boards for us to use. The house was well stocked for us to cook meals and there was plenty of room for our family of 6. We also brought our dog and he thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor space and the lake. Highly recommend for families looking for a peaceful, low key vacation. Very easy communication with our hosts. Thanks again!

2 of my sons, and my brother stayed at the property for 3 nights and enjoyed our stay, the location, the amenities, and the views from the property. It was a simple 20 minute drive to the NOTRE DAME campus and i would highly recommend staying here with or without kids.

Perfect vacation for lake lovers who want to kayak, paddle board, fish, swim, and watch outdoor movies at night around the fire. The lake is clean & quiet, easy for all of our ages to safely enjoy. The house is gorgeous & stocked with everything you need. We can’t wait to go back!!

This property, and all the amenities, was so enjoyable! We took full advantage of the kayaks and paddleboards each day we were there. And the splash pad! Wow, soooo fun. We enjoyed drinking morning coffee on the dock. The house also had everything we needed to cook big meals and watch movies together in the evening. If you want a lake experience, look no further!

We had a great stay at this property.
The house was well stocked with most anything we could need and overall pretty clean. There were 3 full sized single kayaks and 2 stand up paddle boards as well as a pedal boat and a water carpet (lily pad) for use
The owners were very responsive throughout our stay. We had an issue with the outdoor tv and he came right over to trouble shoot it.
We had a large group but we ended up making it work comfortably; 10 adults (ranging from 18-59) and one 2 yr old.
Our only issue with the house came with trying to find a space to put the 2 yr old down at 8pm (and for naps) and not be woken by the family as the second floor bedroom does not have a door to separate it from the downstairs noise (that travels well in the house). The other sleeping areas are all close to the family room. Fortunately the weather was great most of the week and we spent all of our evening time outside under the gazebo by the fire.
The beds were all comfortable and good sized (only one twin bed). My only suggestion would be to replace the loft air mattress with a simple mattress on the floor. The air mattress was comfortable for the young adult that had to sleep there but it did require air to be added every morning. A foam mattress would fit in this same space and wouldn’t require the “upkeep.”
Overall we had a great time here and will definitely recommend this place to family and friends looking for a nice quiet vacation on a kayaking/swimming lake.

Adorable cottage, very clean, tons of extra toys to play in the water (e.g paddle board kayaks)
Things I’d note or just keep in mind if you have kids upstairs is warm and no door so it is louder but there are other rooms down stairs that are cool, more of a fishing lake than swimming so sea weed is pretty think but there is a little beach spot and the lily pad was easy to take out deeper and anchor down 👍 we loved this place!

We had varying ages in our party from ages seven years old, grade school kids, teenagers, college age, to adult. We all had a fantastic time! The house was clean, in great condition. No matter which window you walked out of, you could see gorgeous views of the water and serene, mature trees. We were on the water a lot, and took full advantage of the kayaks, splash pad, etc. This was the first time we went on vacation with these friends, and everyone agreed to come back to this exact house again in the future! LOVE!!!!!

We had the pleasure of staying there 5 days mid-June, my family and my brother’s family (4 adults 4 kids). We picked this area as it is situated between our two families (Minnesota and Ohio). The house is so charming with beautiful views. Purpose of our trip was simply to recharge the batteries and spend time together making memories on the lake. There were plenty of water toys to keep us busy (kayaks, paddle boards). Cornhole, ax throwing games for outside and plenty of board games inside. All these extras were icing on the cake! Property hosts (Julia and Will) were awesome to deal with and super responsive. Not much to do in the area, but if you’re looking for a relaxing and scenic place to recharge your batteries, this is a great place!

Worked out great. Were there for a ND weekend. Would strongly recommend especially in the warmer weather on a body of water great gazebo but with snow and cold that was out. Spacious eating area and area for watching TV. Would definitely stay here again!

We came to visit the Notre Dame campus and attended a football game. Although the Irish didn’t win, the trip was amazing and the property was gorgeous. Taking in the beautiful fall colors at the lake was such a treat. The location was just right for us and I would highly recommend this lovely home!

Our family (5 adults, 2 kids, and 1 infant) loved this property voting the outdoors as our favorite so far of our vacations. We had so much space on this peninsula, kayaks, paddle boat and other fun stuff to use, and so much more. The gazebo was where we sat at night. The house was great too. We did have to keep close watch on the little one with some high steps up and down from some rooms. There were so many games inside and so much we didn't have time to do. A great place!
