About this cabin rental

Historic Wyoming Cabin with Big Character

Step into a piece of Riverside history at Jackalope Retreat — a cozy 1930s log cabin originally built during the era when the Forest Service supported the region’s booming timber and mining industries. Though compact in size, this little cabin is full of warmth, personality, and authentic Wyoming charm.

At approximately 340 square feet, Jackalope Retreat is intentionally simple, cozy, and best suited for travelers who appreciate character over excess space. It’s a wonderful fit for a fishing trip with a buddy, a parent-child getaway, solo travelers seeking solitude, or two guests looking for an affordable and memorable Wyoming escape.

Inside, the cabin is decorated with playful jackalope-themed touches that celebrate the spirit, humor, and folklore of the American West. The atmosphere feels nostalgic, relaxed, and unmistakably Wyoming.

Inside the Cabin

The cabin features:
✔ Two comfortable twin beds with cozy linens
✔ A compact but functional kitchen with stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, dishes, and cooking basics
✔ Private bathroom with shower and essential toiletries
✔ Wi-Fi and TV service
✔ Dining space perfect for morning coffee or planning the day’s adventures

The space is thoughtfully arranged to make the most of its historic footprint while still providing the comforts needed for a relaxing stay.

Outdoor Setting
One of the most peaceful parts of Jackalope Retreat is the outdoor setting. During the spring and summer months, guests love sitting beside the seasonal water channel just outside the cabin with a cup of coffee or evening drink while listening to the gentle sound of flowing water beneath the cottonwood trees.

The private outdoor seating area and grill create a perfect spot to unwind after a day of hiking, fishing, soaking in the hot springs, or exploring the surrounding mountains.

At night, the dark Wyoming skies often put on an incredible show of stars.

Walkable Riverside Location
Jackalope Retreat is conveniently located in the quiet town of Riverside, Wyoming:
✔ Walking distance to local restaurants
✔ Steps from a small convenience store
✔ Directly across from Rick Martin Memorial Park featuring:
- Disc golf
- Horseshoe pits
- Basketball court
- Playground
- Community fire pit

The cabin also offers easy access to nearby destinations including:
✔ Encampment
✔ Saratoga
✔ Saratoga Hot Springs
✔ Medicine Bow National Forest
✔ Snowmobile and ATV trails
✔ Blue-ribbon fishing waters

A Different Kind of Stay
Jackalope Retreat is not a modern luxury cabin — it’s a small historic Wyoming cabin with an authentic story to tell. Guests who love unique stays, local history, outdoor adventure, and cozy spaces tend to absolutely love it here.

If you’re looking for a peaceful home base with personality, history, and true Wyoming spirit, Jackalope Retreat may become one of your favorite hidden gems.

Everything went well except with the toilet. If he pooped he had to use the plunger to get it moving. each time

Very convenient location, peaceful setting. Loved sitting behind the cabin by the channel. Jackalope is cute and well maintained, but a bit too tiny for us. Next time will choose a larger cabin. Appreciated Matt’s responsiveness to request for a fan. Only specific criticism is beds are high off the floor, challenging for us seniors to climb onto. I’d suggest lowering them to normal height for safety and ease of access. Detailed communication from owners pre check in was especially helpful.

Property seemed like a cabin from years gone by. I could call it Cozy, but it was a bit too small for my tastes. Fortunately we were there with friends who had a larger cabin, so we did all but sleep there. Would not have worked for us otherwise.
