About this house rental
Do you need a place to get away and unwind and relax? If so, spend some time at The Grouse House! This adorable and clean home is perfectly located on a quiet street (backs to the forest) under two miles from the slopes, golf course and other Massanutten attractions. Ideal location for families wanting to get away and be close to activities. The waterpark is a short, five minute car ride away. Also a lovely setting to celebrate an anniversary, birthday or girl’s weekend. There are lots of local places to hike and explore, including a ‘lookout’ minutes from the property. Additionally, we are located just 18 miles from JMU, so book early for football season, graduations and university activities. We are a JMU family and would love to help make visiting your college student as easy and enjoyable as possible- go Dukes!! Massanutten is a four-season resort so there is always something to do.
The Grouse House has a fully equipped kitchen, with all the needed appliances, including a coffee station. Two bathrooms and three bedrooms (king bed- main bedroom, first floor ; Two trundle beds in the second bedroom can comfortably accommodate four adults/children, second floor; full bed in the third bedroom, second floor). There is a toddler mattress under the king bed for kiddos that aren’t quite ready to sleep on a different floor than parents. There is also a Lotus travel crib available for babies to sleep upon request. We can comfortably sleep 6-8 people. We refuse to cram guests into attics/garages, large closets or other poorly renovated spaces just to get a higher sleep count like some hosts. When we travel, we want to be comfortable and we want the same for our guests.
We are a kid friendly house! There are toys and blocks and a ‘board game’ armoire to help keep your little ones entertained on your stay. If you need to do any laundry, you have full access to the washer and dryer (laundry detergent provided). Two smart flatscreen TVs are available (family room and main first floor bedroom) and the house has great WIFI. We have contactless check-in and will send you a unique code within 24 hrs of your arrival date to enter the property via a smart lock. For safety, the house has exterior motion sensor lights and three security cameras outside- one in the front, one facing the woods and one of the front door smart lock.
There are many short-term rentals available in and around Massanutten. One thing that makes us different than most? We live locally and manage this property ourselves. We don’t hand our guests off to an online third party from a different state. When you book our property, if a question or concern arises, we will work with you directly.

This home is in a private residential neighborhood and is part of the Massanutten Property
Owners Association (MPOA), governed by its rules and regulations. There are rental homes in
all MPOA neighborhoods, but people also live here. Your nearby neighbors may be full-time
residents, including families with children, retirees, second-home owners and other guests
enjoying their retreat.
NOISE
• Quiet hours: 10:00 PM - 7:00 AM.
• Keep noise indoors during these hours.
• No excessive noise at any time, as judged by MPOA or its assigned agents.
PARKING
• Keep all tires off the road.
• Don't block fire hydrants or park in front of another property without written approval
from your host.
• Park only in designated areas or overflow lot (4007 Peak Dr., Massanutten, VA 22840)
• No buses, campers, or RVs to be parked at homes or on roads. Overflow lot is available with written approval from your host.
OUTDOOR FIRES
• High wildfire risk area!
• No open fires.
• No unattended fires.
• No firepit use during quiet hours (10:00 PM - 7:00 AM).
• Firepits and grills may be restricted during local emergency
conditions, check electronic sign at
entrance for updates.
ALCOHOL
No open containers on roads or in common areas.
PETS (Pets are not allowed at this specific property)
• Leash always required when outside.
• Clean up after your pets.
TRASH
• Do not place garbage/trash outside, including screened-in porches, decks or
carports. Trash attracts wildlife, which could endanger you and damage the property.

We loved our stay at the Grouse House! We were welcomed by a personalized greeting sign, a note, a bottle of wine, and chocolate. The house was very clean! The kitchen was well stocked but not overstocked. The beds were comfortable. The fireplace made the whole place so cozy. We would definitely go back!

This cabin was perfect for our family of 7! We were welcomed with s’mores, wine, chocolates, and a thoughtful greeting card—a lovely touch. The house was clean, beautifully decorated, and just 10 minutes from the ski slopes with stunning views. The host was incredibly kind and communicative. Highly recommend this amazing place; we’ll definitely be back!

This was the third trip our family has made to Grouse House for a NYE getaway. We were so excited to be back for NYE and had a seamless checkin and checkout experience. We highly recommend Grouse House for your getaway. Perfect 5 star home!
