The attention detail of the property is beyond description. You feel like you are on an African safari in the middle of the Texas Hill Country. It is so secluded and quiet and we loved observing the native wildlife as well as the exotic wildlife while enjoying the heated pool and patio. Soaking in the pool at night while taking in the night sky was just phenomenal. The host could not have been more friendly or accommodating and a person would be hard pressed to think of anything that was not already provided to make the trip complete.. hardto pressed g y of was provided.

This is our second time to stay at Marula, and we're hoping it won't be our last. This is the perfect private getaway for relaxing, slowing down, and enjoying nature. It is fun to lay on the patio or in the pool and watch the animals go by. The host is so easy to communicate with. Would highly recommend for a couple looking for a quiet weekend.

If you're looking for a secluded place to stay to relax and unwind, then this is your place. You're nestled in the Hill Country with incredible views. You can't see any other forms of life for miles with the exception of the four legged kind. The cabin is gorgeous, and you won't need for anything. We spent most of our time in and around the pool. If you do need to get out, Kerrville is less than 20 minutes away.

If you would like to get away to somewhere quiet where there are no distractions, I highly recommend Marula. The exotic animals are a real treat. Marula is far enough out to be quiet but still close enough to Kerrville and Fredericksbirg to find plenty to do. The accommodations are great and even on a 100 degree day the AC is surprisingly good.

We arrived with accurate instructions, to secluded, breathtaking ambiance and views! This property is neat as a pin! A/C kept it very cool! We really enjoyed the views on the relaxing / comfortable porch with our feet in the pool! Carl the Nyala cruised by at a relaxed pace, morning and evening! The outdoor shower is clean and open to the stars! All of the linens, from bedding to towels were so soft and smelled great! Nothing was left out in making this property 5 stars of luxury! We slept so good in the large canopied bed!! No noise, just PEACE!

This review is overdue, but life got in the way. I don't even know where to begin here. I almost hesitate to share because I really want to keep this getaway to myself. My husband and I were able to squeeze in a quick weekend in to celebrate our anniversary before our first grandson is born. I don't know how I was fortunate enough to stumble upon Marula, but I'm so thankful I did. Every single detail is so meticulously thought out and every amenity you could think you need is available. You really could just show up with a few changes of clothes and have everything you need to be comfortable. The outdoor shower was a beautiful touch and all the artifacts in the home are really, really cool! The hostess was the kindest, most genuinely warm soul. So much so I felt like we were friends after our first meeting. The views are so calming, it's so quiet your ears ring and the views at night are breathtaking. You feel like you're away from everything, yet you're close enough to a few small towns that if you choose to, you can spend time exploring some fun sites. We loved the golf cart rides looking at the wildlife and got an up close and personal visit from Mr. Carl himself, right off the back porch. My only regret is not booking longer. We WILL be back.

You can not put this experience into words and do it any justice. Marula is absolutely incredible! The host is second to none and the attention to detail throughout the property is impeccable. We spent two whole days in the pool admiring the view, enjoying the solitude, watching Carl and friends come to the watering hole, sipping on cocktails and listening to music. Life slowed way down as we disconnected and celebrated our 10 year anniversary. We loved taking late morning rides in the golf cart to check out views and animals after enjoying coffee with the hummingbirds and butterflies on the porch. The only bad thing about Marula is that you eventually have to leave. We will definitely be back!

If you are wanting a break from, well, whatever…this is it. It is like going to Africa, minus the Big 5. The accommodations were just like going on a luxurious safari. We didn’t want the expense of flying someplace for a break nor did we want to waste a lot of time traveling. But we wanted to feel like we went somewhere and sharing a fancy hotel pool in Bastrop/San Antonio with 200 other people didn’t sound appealing. This place fit the bill. With the added bonus of the atmosphere, it felt like we went someplace exotic. It takes some time to see all the animals. Patience is the game and lots of porch or pool sitting. But I think we saw all of them…way more than we originally thought were hiding in the hills. A new one would pop in and surprise us. Even the hummingbirds and bumblebees were thoroughly entertaining buzzing around the landscaping. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking (bring easy food!). The outdoor shower is just like Africa. The bed is comfortable with very nice bedding. The decor is over the top. I really have no complaints. There are some things that made it uniquely like being in a safari tent but I will leave those for discovery. Having missed Africa since the day I stepped on the plane for home, this gave me the fix I needed and some much appreciated rest. Lori was ready to handle any need, though we had none. Thank you and we will be back! And tell Carl we will miss his daily visits.

This place is so beautiful and relaxing. First of all you have complete and total privacy. Lori is an amazing host and has thought of every little detail to make your stay perfect. The views are magical. We lived on the back deck in the cocktail pool and enjoyed watching the animals in the evening. We were able to completely unplug and relax. We hope to visit again!

This place was simply amazing!! The perfect getaway. Relaxing in the pool at sunset while watching the animals graze at the watering hole. Watching the hummingbirds feed consistently all day long. Also has a well stocked kitchen and was very clean so no need to go out if you plan ahead and cook yourself. Also centrally located to most of the hot hill country spots, Fredericksburg, Kerrville, Boerne, comfort are all just a few short drives away. Wow wow wow! We just spent our anniversary weekend here and WOW! First of all, this place is magic. Lori, the host is truly the MOST. She walked us through everything herself when we arrived, including telling us all about the animals on the property. The bed is heaven, the outdoor shower is an awesome place to sing (suggestion:Africa by Toto) at the top of your lungs because you literally have the entire property to yourselves. The kitchen has everything you need including a Keurig. Lori provides coffee pods and all the spices and condiments so you can bring a few groceries and cook. There is this amazing pool on the deck overlooking the hill country. It's the size of a big hot tub, but gets pretty deep more like a pool. We LIVED in it during our stay and it was amazing. She has a great Bluetooth speaker and even Marula-branded glasses and towels to make your time out back really special. I honestly can't say enough! Oh, and the cherry on top is that there is a golf cart you can use to cruise up this little road to have your own private safari and see the animals up close. You are going to love it here. So many more things I could tell you - but find out for yourself. We can't wait to come back!

We enjoyed our stay, everything met our expectations from cleanliness, comfort, nice and quiet. Close proximity to towns for day trips, eating, entertainment. Property has no other houses around or shared property with owner so we truly had privacy we could enjoy the hill top view and quiet time.

My husband and I had the best time on our African glamping trip at this property (early 9th Anniversary celebration)! Gorgeous safari/tent like building. Absolutely beautifully decorated with all the accommodations of home. I loved the outdoor shower, enclosed with walls but open to the sky. The cocktail pool was a truly refreshing and relaxing way to watch all the exotic animals come onto the property. Hummingbird feeders are on the patio by the cocktail pool and these pretty little birds will hang out with you in large groups feeding from the feeders and colorful flowers. The canopy bed is so comfy. The property is located within 15 to 20 minutes away from several towns and great restaurants. The property owner was very attentive and made sure our check in went smoothly. Hubby and I will definitely be back!

What an unexpected treat. The love and attention Lori and her family have put in to make this the perfect “African Safari” is a must have experience. She has created the perfect romantic getaway, you’ll never want to leave. We loved sitting on the patio with a bottle of wine watching the sunset as Carl,and his little friend, along with all the other African animals came to the watering hole. Carl was our favorite, but on our last evening one of the babies came up to drink. This is definitely our first of many trips back!!

I have nothing but incredible things to say about this property and our host Lori Brown! This private, gated retreat is far more than any traditional glamping experience! The only dead give away to the fact that the structure is a tent is the sound of the breeze blowing against the walls but it was so relaxing! The kitchen, soaking tub, king bed (so comfy we had to ask her for the name of the sheets), and excellent air conditioning made us feel like we were staying at a 5 star resort. We absolutely loved seeing the animals (the Nyalas were our favorite) and relaxing and unwinding at this little slice of heaven! Not to mention how clean and just overall perfect everything was! Thank you so much Lori! We will be back!
