About this cabin rental
A great home base for taking advantage of all Talkeetna has to offer, or as a quiet retreat from the world in your own private environment. The “Red Sled” is perfect for sharing with others or for a family, with a new queen bed on the main floor along with the bathroom, and a second queen plus a twin in the loft bedroom which is open to main floor below. Lake views abound everywhere in your cabin, or step out onto the spacious covered front porch to take in the sounds of nature while enjoying the lake. In summer listen to the loons; in winter catch a midnight view of the aurora borealis. The Red Sled offers a private lakefront retreat in the woods year-round.
Take advantage of the fully-equipped kitchen including full-size range/oven and refrigerator, grill out in summer, or sample the restaurants in the area. You’ll have access to a washer and dryer, smart TV and wi-fi; dogs are allowed with prior approval from the host. There’s ample parking along with maximum privacy found at the end of a curved birch-lined driveway.
Gather around the campfire after a day of hiking or fishing in summer); enjoy a ski, skate, snowshoe, or kicksled in winter. The area has a variety of trails (groomed in winter) and lots of options for outdoor activities summer or winter. There’s even a unique playground for children and a covered ice rink near downtown Talkeetna.
The Red Sled is conveniently located just a mile off Talkeetna Spur Road for easy access but with the quiet that only being far enough removed from traffic can bring. In the immediate area are Denali Brewing’s Tasting Room (with wood-fired pizza and fresh salads), Cubby’s Grocery (3 miles), and Moore’s Hardware (which carries much more than hardware!). Downtown Talkeetna is just 10 miles away – an easy drive for shopping, dining, flightseeing, fishing, attending events and other activities.

We had an amazing stay at the Red Sled cabin! The cabin was spacious and clean, with everything we needed for our short stay. Holly was thoughtful to give a bit of information about the mosquitoes and arm us with protection (thermacell) for enjoying the deck bug-free. The lake was beautiful and we enjoyed watching the arctic tern flying above the water and diving for fish. A few of them are also nesting in nearby tall trees and stumps. A muskrat popped out of the water close to the house too. We saw moose on the road to the cabin a few times. This was a perfect place to lay our heads after adventures in Denali State Park and Talkeetna. Thanks for a great place to stay!

This is the second visit we've made to The Red Sled -- we definitely wanted to come back because it is so nice. The cabin itself is on a lake, and the loons that were there last year greeted us upon our arrival. It's location gives us the privacy and quiet serenity that we sought, and yet is only minutes away from Talkeetna proper, and the great restaurants along the Talkeetna Spur. The host couldn't have been nicer, or easier to deal with, and has her cabin all decked out in tasteful decorations. She was very concerned to make sure we had everything we needed.

The Red Sled is a great place to stay. It is roomy, clean, and comfortable. We really enjoyed a fire by the lake each evening. Firewood is available right on the property for a great price. The host was very responsive and has thought about everything for you to have an enjoyable stay. We would absolutely stay there again if we were in the area.
