About this house rental
This is a cabin on 5 acres on the Independence River near the confluence of the Moose and the Black rivers.
In recent years vacationers have discovered the beauty and recreation to be had on the western edge of the Adirondack park.
Camp Rio Vista is a private and peaceful classic Adirondack experience on the Independence river with modern conveniences. The river flows past two sides of this 5 acre property, stroll down a landscaped, tiki torch lit pathway to the fire pit and native stone patio on the river. A hammock provides scenic views of the river and the property for those lazy afternoon naps. The cabin includes a sheltered wraparound porch with views of the river and majestic pine trees rain or shine. The master bedroom is upstairs with a luxurious queen sized bed, dramatic ceilings, and a view into the cathedral ceiling great room. There is a queen futon downstairs in the living room that comfortably sleeps two. Additionally Auto inflatable bed height twin beds with all necessary linens are available upstairs in the cubbyhole. The bathroom features a rain head shower with a granite counter vanity and a full-size washer and dryer are also for your use.
The kitchen is equipped for entertaining with granite countertops, gas cooking, a full-size refrigerator and beautiful self closing alder cabinets. A dropleaf table accommodates four. The open great room features a wood-burning fireplace for cool nights, and it has a large high resolution smart LED TV . There is a DVD player and we do have a Viasat-satellite Internet connection that you can stream channels like Netflix and Disney, etc., with your own accounts. We no longer have the satellite for cable TV..
The cabins water source is a natural springfed well providing incredible water for drinking and bathing, cordless shades throughout the downstairs and 2 inch blinds in the master provide privacy when needed .
The home is powered by a totally off the grid, reliable, high technology solar panel system with a back up generator. There are floodlights that illuminate the drive and lawn for unloading at camp.
Ample firewood is provided for the fire pit and the indoor fireplace.
The property is about 1 mile from the horse trails and is in close proximity to hiking, kayaking, mountain biking and ATVing.
There’s also an instantaneous hot water heater, warming the naturally soft spring well water .
The Otter Creek New York State horse trail system is nearby with 70 miles of trails in the state forest, a destination for horse owners. The Black River is five minutes away for an easy float with a kayak or canoe, it has no rapids near by. Francis Lake is 20 minutes away, it’s a springfed non-motorized lake for swimming and paddling. Stillwater Reservoir is only 30 minutes away for motorboating and the Lewis County trail system for hiking, mountain biking ATV-Ing are also close by. The village of Old Forge with the Enchanted Forest / Water Safari is 50 minutes away. The Oswegatchie River and many other rivers, lakes, creeks, mountains and lots of trails are close by to choose from.

Awesome experience - private, cozy, clean, on a river! Everything you would need including dishware, silverware, etc...about 20 minutes away from supermarket, gas, butcher. Yes, there is a backup generator that comes on occasionally if solar is not charging the batteries but its behind shed. Great communication with owner!Not sure about recycling in NY so we had a separate bag of recycling when we left.

First time for me and my husband staying in a VRBO. We had an excellent experience and plan on doing it again. The property was just as it said it was. Host we’re excellent.

Everything was as described and we had a great experience. I love how remote it is yet has all the comforts of home. The cabin and property was well taken care of and clean. I would definitely stay here again.
