The village itself has a shop, fish and chip shop, butcher and pub. Sandy beaches of the coastline are just 20 minutes’ drive. Excellent walking can be enjoyed from doorstep through beautiful countryside following the many trails and paths. You can travel to Wells-next-the-Sea, 14 miles, where you will find an unspoilt and much photographed quay, a wide sandy beach, a single gauge railway that almost delivers you right to the sand.

There is also a great mix of traditional seaside shops and boutiques, and lots of great places to eat and drink. If you can tear yourself away, you can head east or west from here to discover coastal towns and villages with a host of different coastal habitats, including sand and shingle beaches, marshes and quays. Head east and explore Cromer with its famous pier and Edwardian seafront, or west and discover all the fun of the fair at Hunstanton. Make sure to stop off at all the pretty seaside villages and towns in between.

Closer to home lies Pensthorpe Natural Park, Norfolk’s biggest tourist attraction, which is home to a variety of wildlife and offers garden trails in a sprawling countryside lake and woodland conservation park. The Thursford Collection, with its much celebrated Thursford Christmas Spectacular is also nearby. Travel just a little further and explore the Norfolk Broads, either on a day launch or on an organised tour. Or, for a change of pace, head into the medieval city of Norwich with its splendid Norman Castle and numerous museums, galleries and attractions. Add in National Trust sites and stately homes such as The Blickling Estate and Holkham Hall and you will see that there really is something for everyone in this part of Norfolk. Fakenham is just 4 miles away with four supermarkets, cinema, flea market and an auction most Thursdays.

Golf is available locally and there is horse racing at Pudding Norton, near Fakenham. You are sure to return again, and again, just to fit it all in! Beach 14 miles. Shop 50 yards, pub and restaurant 700 yards.
