About this cottage rental

The Old Candle Shop is a period conversion in the centre of Moreton in Marsh. This Cotswold holiday home with a hot tub has been completed to the highest standard and is perfectly positioned to enable guests to explore the wider Cotswold region, or simply to spend an evening sampling pubs and restaurants in a traditional Cotswold setting. The property sleeps 4 guests, accommodated in two bedrooms, one with zip and link beds, and both benefiting from an en-suite. The stylish open plan living area boasts a wood burning stove, comfortable seating and dining areas along with a traditional, well equipped shaker style kitchen. Large bifold doors open onto an enclosed courtyard, complete with outdoor dining furniture, Jacuzzi hot tub, coal BBQ and parking for one car. This is also a dog friendly holiday home, welcoming one medium sized dog!

    For a 5 star rating,accommodation tired, lots of cobwebs also Main negative was we were cold, 18 degrees fixed for underfloor heating is nowhere near enough, no flexibility to increase, 7 logs for Woodburner gave us 2 hrs warmth!

    We stayed as a group of four adults at the property for a week at the end of September. The property is well equipped & stylishly decorated. The location is great just a 30 second walk to the high street where there are several eateries, cafes & supermarkets. All the pubs we visited severed great food. A couple of negatives, the property wasn’t as clean as I would expect it was dusty & grimey in places, appreciate it is the end of the season but think a deep clean was needed. Also I think it needed a bit of maintenance as two of the toilet seats were loose & several chipped plates mugs etc, having said that we had a lovely stay and would recommend it to others.

    We loved our stay at The Old Candle Shop. The house is very well equipped and we loved the treats and breakfast items left for us to enjoy. The garage is a real plus especially with the EV charging capability. The beds are really comfortable, the rooms are spacious and the hot tub was great too. We loved having a laundry (although laundry detergent and an outdoor clothesline or airer would be useful). Also while there is shower gel you need to bring your own shampoo and conditioner. The location is great - just off the main street so easy to go to Tesco, the pub or cafes nearby without a car. Also it is walking distance to the train station. It is in a quiet location and we felt very safe walking everywhere. The nearby villages are easy to reach by car and there are fantastic restaurants in the surrounding areas too.

    The old candle shop is a beautiful house, & well equipped with all you need, including fans as we had a super hot weekends stay, upstairs bedrooms gets very very warm with the big glass windows. Great location to the town, & good having an electric charger for the car. Only disappointiment was a little bit more attention needed to the cleanliness of hot tub, we had to wipe all round the edges ourselves before use. Would definitely recommend house for a stay at Cotswolds!

    What can I say. Entering this lovely holiday home we were struck by how beautiful this home was, beautiful decor, lovely furniture and everything we could have wished for. Had everything utensil wise and more, some places always forget something that you need. Beds were comfortable and cleanliness 100%. It would have been lovely to open the bi fold doors as the weather was lovely and it did get rather hot last week but there is a tower fan so made good use of that. The car charging point was excellent for us having an electric car so no hassle trying to charge up elsewhere. The welcome pack was full of goodies as well to get us started...milk,bread,eggs,butter,cereals,jam,biscuits and a bottle of wine. Please could you update your recycling list, we put out our bins on the days specified but turned out to be the wrong dates for recycling and general waste, on the last day we noticed the dust cart and quickly put them outside, and they would only take the bins which had black sacks for recycling, they emptied ours only because they told us but wouldn't empty the bins because the recycling had just been thrown in, none of this is in the information folder so just needs to be made clear you have to put the black sacks into bins for recycling. Would definitely return to this beautiful location.

    the house is in an excellent location just off the high street. It also has the bonus of private parking. Tastefully furnished and decorated and everything we needed for our stay. Unfortunately both external doors have difficult locks and these should be rectified or additional information sent out in advance to guests. One Of the double beds is two singles and needs an additional mattress topper adding.

    Clean well maintained property, excellent location. Good to have hot tub, though there were no sterilising tablets to put in the water once used even though instructions ask you to put them in after you get out.
