The Location
Set just 150m from the ocean and an easy 800m stroll to Kingscote’s main street, you’ll love the coastal walking trail, local cafés, shops, and the tidal pool nearby. Cactus Café is within walking distance, seals and pelicans are almost always near the jetty, and dolphins often grace the bay.
Kingscote is a perfect central base for exploring Kangaroo Island by day, while offering the convenience of dining, shopping and free parking.
Good to Know
- Children: This is a luxury home, not child-proof. Families with little ones are welcome but must supervise closely. Porta-cot, cot linen, highchair, and toys available on request.
- Pets: Not permitted (except genuine assistance animals with notice and copy of certificate).
- Check-in/out: 3pm check-in (4pm festive season), 10am check-out. Guaranteed early/late options by arrangement (fee may apply).
- Parties: Strictly no wild parties, schoolies, bucks/hens. Small gatherings for booked & paying guests only, with prior approval. Quiet Hours 8pm-8am.
- Cleaning: Spotless on arrival — normal holiday rental cleaning included. Please leave respectfully (dishes away, BBQ clean, rubbish in bins).
- Security: External cameras at front porch & driveway for peace of mind.

This place was seriously amazing and easily the best rental I’ve ever stayed in. The house was super clean and really well taken care of. It had everything we (10 people) needed, which made the whole stay so easy. The welcome drinks and snacks were such a nice surprise and made us feel right at home. The space was comfortable, cozy, and perfect for relaxing. I’d absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it.

Our family stayed at Rawson's Retreat to celebrate my Mum's 70th (8 adults, 5 children aged 6-13). The house was absolutely perfect. The games rooms up the back was such a highlight for the kids and the huge family/dining/entertaining area was perfect. All aspects of the house were clean and organised - Rachel had thought of everything. The furniture and kitchenware was all top of the range - and there was ample glassware, servingware, towels, beach towels, etc. On top of this, Rachel's communication was amazing and she gave us some great tips and recommendations for things to do. Would highly recommend both the property and Rachel as a host (as I know she has other properties too). 10/10 from all of our family! Thanks so much for such a fabulous stay in Kingscote.

This property is fantastic for large groups. Very well set out and loads of room to move around freely in all areas. Wonderful outdoor area well protected.
Beautiful clean linen in all rooms and wonderful support from Rachel the property manager.
We will be back again next year.

Rachel is a fantastic host with an abundance of knowledge and goes out of her way offering excellent advice and information. A beautiful home with every provision catered for. We highly recommend this property, you won't be disappointed. We hope to visit again one day.
