About this cottage rental
Our four season cottage is our baby where we have poured out our heart and mind into making Hilltop Hideaway what you see today for our friends and family to come and relax at. Now we are slowly opening it up to other families on a short term rental basis. The gently sloping land that flows into the natural sandy beach with a shallow entry that leads to deeper water off the dock make it perfect for all age groups. The beach has perfect amounts of shade and the dock has all day sun exposure (north west) allowing you to keep your options open as to what Muskoka chair you wish to relax in!
During the summer we have a number of non-motorized water items to use including kayaks, canoe, SUP, Lilly pad and water trampoline and a few beach toys. Renters are responsible for themselves and the people they invite/bring to the cottage propery either on water, on the cottage property or in the cottage/bunky at all times. Some life jackets are available to use but please bring your own.
During the winter months we also have a small assortment of snowshoes and a few sets of three peg cross country skis and winter tubes available if you wish to venture out in the snow!
The cottage also contains a number of assorted books, puzzles and board games for your enjoyment. There is a 75" Smart TV for you to log into your own online account. Starlink Wifi is available. There is no cable.
Hilltop is located at the end of a private road and is one of only four cottage in our waterfront bay on Star Lake allowing for great peace and privacy.
Upstairs has the kitchen, dinning room, living room, muskoka room, primary bedroom room with an en-suite and stand up shower (king bed), Hummingbird room (double over queen bunk bed), Bear room(queen bed) and the main bathroom with a tub.
Downstairs has the laundry room, family room with walk out to lake side, powder room, Loon room(King bed) and the Wolf Den ( two queen & four twin beds)
There are a number of places for people to sleep but we have caped our maximum amount of people at twelve (12) and no pets. Thank you for understanding. If you have any questions feel free to send us a message.
All beds have mattress & pillow covers.
We also have one portable rolling bed that fits only in the basement rooms if needed.
There is also a Bunky that can be used in the summer only as it is not heated that contains a king, queen and twin bed for additional sleeping options.
If you chose our cottage there is a short term rental agreement that will need to be signed prior to arriving that contains some house rules like no smoking in any building, no pets, and cottage owners are not responsible for any loss or damages to renters and or their personal items or the guest they bring during their stay.
We have decided to not have a cleaning charge, However if the Cottage isn't clean to the level you found it, There will be an additional charge.

We had a fabulous stay this summer! We thought this property might be too good to be true (the price was very reasonable for such a large place with so many amenities), but turns out it exceeded all our expectations!Our kids adored the water trampoline, sandy beach, epic kids bunks, and sports/water toys.We loved that the cottage is new and clear and decorated well. There was no clutter and everything we needed (paper towels, coffee pods, garbage bags, tin foil, appliances).Hilltop Hideaway feels very private, yet it isn't too far in the middle of nowhere.The view and lake are perfection & the lounge chairs, huge dock and big deck allow for complete enjoyment. The barrel sauna and outdoor shower were welcome surprises as well!We usually stay on Lake Roseau or Lake Joe, but took a chance on Star lake and just loved it. It was so warm and clear and the cliff jumping nearby made for fun memories.Plus this property is well laid out for multiple families to really enjoy being together without being on top of each other.There is no garbage pickup, but the drop off was easy and didn't make for any problems. Also no air conditioning, but every room has a modern ceiling fan and screens that open all around. We didn't feel hot -the setting among the trees keeps the place cool. If it had AC, I wouldn't have used it.It's also worth noting we were allowed to check in early and check out later. The owners went the extra mile and we are grateful for such a fabulous week!

We had an amazing time at this beautiful cottage! It was fully equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The shallow water entry was perfect for small children, while the deeper end by the dock was great for the older kids to jump in and have fun. Paul was very responsive and helpful throughout our stay. We’ll definitely be back again!

The location was beautiful and the house is spectacular. There was plenty of room and privacy for our extended family group of 12. Lots of options if you wanted to be in or on the water, soak in some sun, or just relax and read a book. The host Paul was easily reachable and responsive to questions. They take pride in their cottage and it shows.
