Welcome to the southern part of the island of Rügen! Lauterbach is a small district of the “white town” of Putbus, and both places are steeped in tradition and history. Visit the Goor, the wooded area near Lauterbach. It was here that Prince Wilhelm Malte zu Putbus had a bathhouse built around 1800.
At the Lauterbach harbor, you’ll find small seafood restaurants as well as the smoking ship Berta. Many vacationers and locals agree that this is where you’ll find the best fish sandwiches on the island of Rügen. Be sure to give them a try. Passenger ships also dock at and depart from the harbor in Lauterbach, offering you the chance to take a sightseeing cruise. However, if you’re not quite so sea-worthy, you can explore the island on the “Rasender Roland” train. The terminal is located in Lauterbach, and from here you can travel through the Baltic Sea resorts of Binz, Sellin, and Baabe all the way to Göhren.
