Tranquilidade pois não havia nenhum outro hóspede, e o espaço ficou exclusivo para nós. O anfitrião é muito gentil, nos acolheu muito bem e fez de tudo para nos sentirmos bem.

O banheiro fora do quarto foi algo que passou batido na nossa triagem para a escolha do lugar, que só não foi um incômodo pois não havia outros hóspedes.

Si bien el baño es privado, tenes el wtc en uno y la ducha en otro, hubiera preferido que todo esté en un mismo baño para mayor comodidad

The building and garden are attractive and give a great Caribbean vibe. Sydney was very helpful and gave tips about where to visit. He’s always up for a chat, so if you are looking for a local experience, this is a good place to stay. He is flexible with breakfast times—bringing it at times that worked for us, including in the evening, so we could leave early for the beach. Sydney also fixes things quickly when needed and sends tailored recommendations. For example, we enjoy dancing, so he suggested the best salsa bars in the region and the nights to go. We also mentioned that the bin was smelling, and he turned up promptly to take it out—and continued to do so daily without any prompting. The location is quite central: about a 20-minute walk to the centre and close to a bus stop. There’s also free parking. The bed is comfortable, and the room has an AC unit.

We didn’t fully understand the layout of the flat before arriving and expected a bit more privacy. The guest house is shared, and you are in close proximity to other guests. Fortunately, we stayed with friendly people, but it is intimate and could be less comfortable if others are louder. You also need to leave the bedroom and pass through shared spaces to access the bathroom and toilet. This, along with the shared area, contributes to more of a hostel-style feel than a traditional B&B. There are two cameras in the shared hallway for security purposes (we were told they are not actively monitored), but we still found their presence uncomfortable, particularly in a space where you move between private areas like the bedroom and bathroom. The shared area is very hot during the day and evening, as the air conditioning wasn’t working, which made it difficult to use comfortably. You can open the windows, but we didn’t feel comfortable doing so because of mosquitoes, noise from the bar next door, and occasional people on the street. The area can feel shady at night, especially on the walk to the centre, where there are usually people loitering, so it’s worth being cautious after dark. Breakfast is provided but fairly simple—it typically consists of fruit, bread with jam, and a supermarket-style pastry. It’s adequate if you just want something basic, but it isn’t a highlight of the stay. The rooms themselves are good, but the walls are thin, so you can hear noise from neighbouring rooms and from above. The host sometimes enters the flat for various reasons, and it isn’t always expected, which can feel intrusive. We would have preferred to have some control over if and when entry occurs, rather than it happening unexpectedly.
