Gülec Konak Hotel

First off this is not a hotel - this is More like a hostel as there is no lobby, or swipe cards, or reception service like a hotel. I will post the positives and negatives for other travellers so they can make an informed decision. Positives: - affordable and great value for money - Location walking distance to main attractions and amongst many restaurants - Grocery store right below - Communication timely on WhatsApp from management - Air conditioner excellent - Hot water and pressure - Bed comfortable - Fridge in room - Storage cupboards and shelves to help make use of space - Roof top is nice but it’s not anything spectacular .. Personally I feel this is excellent suitability for a solo experienced traveller who does not mind hostel style, located right in the heart of Istanbul major attractions. I enjoyed my stay, However if you are travelling as a family or want a typical hotel experience, you will need to book elsewhere.

- security as the front door is unlocked 24/7 and the desk is not managed always or overnight - The entrance to the hostel is small with no room to move with your luggage - Steep steps to carry luggage - do not stay here if you have mobility or fitness issues - Toilet seat would not stay up - Much wear and tear - the skirting boards and shower frame were taped up and in need of repair - Bathrooms extremely small- on par with Japan - Old building means thin walls - you can hear other rooms showering and the noise from the street. Not an issue if you just bring good earplugs - Only 1 lady does the cleaning and breakfast - Breakfast is minimal - Wifi went slow at times or stopped - but I had data so no issue - You are in an area where you’ll be hassled to eat at the restaurants - just keep walking

The staff were friendly the location was perfect near by the metro touristic area

Breakfasts were great. Location was great and the room booked was great for the price.

The location of this hotel is very good. It has a nice terrace where you can enjoy breakfast. Everything is very compact and well organized. It is not a high-class hotel, but for this price, it is a great choice.

For a hotel at this price and in such a location, complaining about every small detail would really be unnecessary.
