It was located close enough to the beach to walk but also where it was nice and quiet

Everything but the cleanliness was great. I expected more considering how much the cleaning fee is. I’m all for a cleaning fee, I’m a residential and airbnb cleaner myself. However, for $200+ I would have expected the showers not to have soap scum, hardware to be polished, and to not find coffee grounds still in the coffee pot from the last people who stayed when we went to start making coffee. Aside from the cleanliness though we loved the place.

We had some trepidation about possibly being too far from the beach, but it was only 10 minutes by walk and that distance was compensated by being on a very quiet street that was right on the canal. Our youngest enjoyed being introduced to fishing, catching several small bluegills. And we went kayaking a number of times as well. We loved the layout of the house with a wide open living room and kitchen and dining area and love the spaciousness of the cathedral ceiling. There were plenty of chairs. The bedrooms were small, but very serviceable. Unlike many beach houses, the toilets worked very well and the showers had plenty of water pressure. Most amazingly, there were virtually no biting bugs the whole time that we were there even when we were fishing from the little deck by the canal.

We reported a number of minor issues that hopefully were fixed after we left. The front of one of the kitchen drawers simply fell off when we opened it. A few of the electric outlets were not functional because an appliance would simply fall out when you try to plug it in. One eastern bedroom window did not have a shade at all, and the other kept falling down. The east facing balcony, sliding door seem to be blocked and could only be opened a little away with great difficulty. One of the beds had it slats fall in the middle of the night, waking up the sleeper. The light over the kitchen table is missing a bulb, and the fan speed adjustment doesn't work. It's also obvious that a paint job on the ceiling simply stopped halfway and finishing on the beautiful wood paneling also has a large section that wasn't done.

Sailor’s Rest was the perfect home for our family Christmas gathering! The home was spotless and so welcoming when we arrived. We loved the great room with its comfortable couches and the reading chair tucked into the corner by the stairs. Bedrooms were nicely appointed. The “welcome packages” in the bathrooms were a nice touch. We really enjoyed the back deck off the dining area and spent hours each day sitting in the sun and listening to the creek. So peaceful! A big plus was the secure, pet-friendly yard – our dogs were so happy to spend time on the deck and in the yard. We did a lot of cooking that was made easy with well-stocked kitchen full of pots, pans, dinnerware, glassware, etc. Supermarkets and shopping were only a 10 minute from the home. The location on the peninsula was ideal. We were literally blocks from public access to the beach; an easy walk away and dog-friendly after Labor Day. The folks at Vacasa were responsive to all of our needs, replying via text immediately. Sailor’s Rest was truly a find! My family and I would stay there again – maybe next Christmas!

Two of the twin beds had broken slats under the mattresses. However, Vacasa sent maintenance the next morning and repairs were completed satisfactorily.
