Villa Ruka - Rising Sun with 3 bedrooms, loft, sauna and balcony with a view

Our trip already started out incredibly well on arrival, as communication with the host was effortless. She immediately let us know when previous renters left early, made sure the property was cleaned asap, and therefore enabled a check-in hours in advance. Of course early departures cannot be planned, but her communication and organisation ensured that we were able to enjoy the full time gained. The house was spotless, beds were properly made and even the appliances were completely clean. The amenities were great, two separate toilets with two showers in the large bathroom and a sauna that was at perfect temperature within an hour. Our favourite discovery was how well-stocked the kitchen was, with a coffee machine, oven (and dishes), a microwave, plenty of cutlery and plates to cook our own NYE dinner, and even small details such as a wine cooler bucket, bottle opener and a garlic press. The pans were of high quality, the dishwasher was small but fast. Storage was plentiful, there is a large wardrobe by the door for jackets, gear and bags. All bedrooms had large closets. Our only struggle was fitting our toiletries in the small bathroom cabinets. However, how well-stocked the bathrooms were made up for it (to illustrate, even een diffuser for curly hair was provided along with the hairdryer!). The house was noticeably larger than most other cabins, with a very comfortable large couch that fit our entire family comfortably stretched out. The huge windows in every room made the place feel immersed in nature, and its positioning at the end of a dead-end street meant that it was nice and quiet. Of course, being a bit off the beaten path meant that Ruka is harder to reach, but as an active family we enjoyed the snowy 30-minute walks to the centre, supermarket and other activities - it was never much longer than that. To go skiing, calling a taxi meant paying €20 to be delivered right to the biggest lift with all our gear. Overall, we had a wonderful time!

To different groups, some points may be trickier than they were for us. The dishwasher was small and needed to be run daily with 4 people, larger groups might struggle a bit if they cook a lot. The distance to Ruka was fine, but the lowest temperature during our stay was -15 so the 30 minute walk was fine in warm clothes. Families with children might need a car (which there is a covered parking spot for) or take taxis. The two main bedrooms were great, but some had less storage than others. With more than 4 people using the bathrooms, there might be a slight storage issue. Again, we didn't mind any of the above. The house was great for our group.

Keittiön liesi vähintäänkin keskinkertainen, paistinpannu 1 kpl ei riitä isommalle porukalle kokatessa. Liesitasossa pienet keittoalueet. Liesituuletin aika huono. Sähköauton latauspisteen puute.
