Sigiriya Nature View home Stay

This place is just out of town but is in the most beautiful setting in nature. It is in walking distance to restaurants. We hired a motorbike from the family which was a fun way to explore the area. The family are really friendly and helpful, whilst allowing us to have our privacy.

Sometimes hear dogs in the night but thats normal in SL

We were only there one night and arrived after dark, then didn’t get to spend any time the next day other than a quick shower before heading out, but it seemed like a great location for viewing wildlife and just getting out of the bustle of a city. Because we had to leave early to go to Lion Rock, we weren’t going to be there for breakfast that starts at 8AM, so the nice people there brought us some bananas, crackers/cookies, and tea so we could have something before heading out.

We didn’t realize there was no A/C until we walked into the 85F/30C room. Our fault for not paying enough attention to the amenities list, and it was too warm outside for opening windows to help much, plus we didn’t want to deal with mosquitoes by opening them. There are two shower heads in the bathroom, one for cold water and a second with an electric cord running to it that heats water at the shower head. They don’t overlap, so you’d need to move between them to get hot and cold water, and when I reached up to adjust the hot water shower head a bit, I felt an electric jolt, so we decided it was safer to just take cold showers. Lastly, there was no drinking water provided in the room, so we didn’t get to brush teeth before leaving.
