Bylands Cottage Historic Home - Tambo river views and pet friendly

This is a charming home in a beautiful location with gorgeous views out every window. We loved eating our dinner out on the front verandah, looking out over the lovely garden and all the greenery beyond. There were alpacas in one direction, cows in another. The garden is large and the host must surely put quite an effort into presenting it so nicely (thank you to the hosts for providing that experience to guests!). I loved the historic feel of the home - it reminded me of my grandparents homes years ago. The home had good facilities and plenty of space. Not far in to Lakes Entrance. Yard was excellent for dogs and our little dog loved exploring it. Highly recommended. Would love to stay here again.

The cottage itself featured beautiful historic designs, along with magnificent English garden surrounding the house. The cottage was very clean and there was a generous amount of linen provided. Overall the house was kept well maintained.

Unfortunately the rats in the walls in one of the master bedrooms next to the kids bedroom was quite disruptive with all the scratching and thumping noises. My partner and I had to move to the other main master bedroom to escape the noise. We understand that rats are common this time of year with the heat and we know they can be a pain to get rid of. Also the shower was dripping water constantly no matter how hard we turned the taps. The key for the back door was also difficult to open to get into the house.

Everything was great, except for the mozzies.

The property is fantastic and you will not be disappointed. It has everything there that you will need. We have young kids and they loved it! The location is great. Close to Metung and not too far from Lakes Entrance. Easy access to the Tambo river fishing spots also. (Best to drive a bit and go down some dirts roads that go along side the river so you have no traffic going past) Hot tip - Bring groceries as the Metung store is ridiculously priced. The small pizza shop next to the pub on the other side of the bridge was really good!
