Up this far north, it’s untamed Scottish Highlands at its finest. This stone cottage blends in perfectly with the wild countryside around it and there’s a lockable shed to store bikes, kayaks and outdoor adventure equipment so you can make the most of the lochs, rivers and woodlands on your doorstep. The town of Forres is a ten-minute drive away when you need to stock up. The private garden looks out over the rolling hills of the estate this home is set in, which has been owned by the same family since 1738. Inside, you’ll find the perfect blend of rustic cottage charm and modern convenience. The wood-burning stove set in the old hearth is pure tradition, while the kitchen has every appliance and crockery you need for self-catering. If the weather is fine, choose to dine outside on the patio. A world away from the city, the only traffic you’ll get here is the odd pine marten or roe deer passing through the orchard.
